Poll question: What does President Obama believe?
After reading Robert Reich's article about the President's meeting with the Chamber of Commerce, one must wonder what does he stand for?

1. He may well believe many of those things
Contrariwise, I doubt he believes he is a Bill Clinton democrat, but he clearly is.

I can not read his mind, so I don't know what he believes.

3. He's a Bill Clinton democrat. Just as he was in the primaries.
I think a lot of people who have turned against him weren't paying attention.

4. Other
I could care less about his ideology.

I'm far more interested in his actions.

I will judge him by whether his actions and policies serve to advance and protect my needs, interests and priorities.

7. Why do you think his meeting witih the CoC signifies anything of substance?
We have a Republican House. None of Robert Reich's policy prescriptions or any other progressive policy prescriptions will even be taken up by a single committee. He talks about getting rid of useless regulations that no one is in favor of keeping, but doesn't actually get rid of substantive regulations that help people. As for the corporate tax rate, Obama already said that any reform package would have to be offset by increasing corporate taxes by closing loopholes.

Outside of the legislative process, Obama is having the EPA regulate greenhouse gas emissions, his administration is implementing HCR and financial reform, and Elizabeth Warren is setting up the most powerful regulatory agency in favor of consumers since at least FDR.

The left will support him no matter what. So he'll do what he can to pick off votes from the middle/right.

12. He's a corporatist. All of his policy proposals have been to the benefit of corporations, and all of

his appointments to committees and such have been money men from Wall Street. Obama believes in corporate socialism. Pocket the profits and socialize the losses. Handouts and deregulation to big business, courtesy of the public treasury.

Just look at his State of the Union last week, or the fact that he's sentimentalizing Reagan and speaking to the "U.S. Chamber of Commerce".

Its funny how DU will let you make up any epithet you want for the GOP and their henchmen, but Obama, who embodies those same traits in practice, is off limits.

13. "but Obama, who embodies those same traits in practice"
The problem isn't that Obama actually embodies those same traits in practice. The problem is with people who think he does, when he actually (in reality) does not.

20. I don't think he actually believes or stands for much of anything.
He's more comparable to a modern CEO than anything else. Get in, get yours, get out. There doesn't seem to be any long term plan at all, and the actual results of policies seem to be irrelevant. It's all about scoring that PR win for the next election, and securing more campaign cash.

21. Whatever it is, it certainly is NOT the main tenets of the Democratic ideology.
Progressive Taxation, being at the forfront, sticking up for the American worker and the American citizen in general..If he believed in either of those he certainly would not have accepted the Republican policies..I almost feel liberated at this point because I will not be casting a vote for that man..Things can always change but that is how I feel now..

You have no idea what he thinks or believes, nor does anyone else.

Good morning! I say what a joy it is to look ahead and show you the signs of your future. So much happiness is in store for you the most brilliantly lighted stars are put to shame by the brightness of your light! Oh, happiness what an illusive thing you are, but thank GOD you were born beneath this star!

Drop another coin in the slot and I will tell you more!
