Egyptian Revolution Tweets. Day 15, No To The Entire Regime, Part 9

Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6, Part 7, Part 8

Some Mubarak Financial documents DDos'd to dissappear found here

To see Tahrir battlepoints Google Earth + overlay

Egyptian anti-government protesters sleep on the tires of a military tank stationed on Tahrir (Liberation) Square,
which for the past two weeks has been the center of a sit-in protest by thousands of Egyptians demanding the government step down from power.
Protesters created a human shield and barricades to fend off pro-Mubarak supporters from getting into the square
and to prevent the military from an overnight attack to clear the square from the protesters.

Please rec if you read these, these get mercilessly unrec'd

as of edit time. 19 votes, 19 recs, 17 unrecs for 2 recs. Weird. One would wonder.

1. FRENCH PM Francois Fillon admits Mubarak paid for his family's NY holiday, lent them plane
REpost from last thread because the show's just starting. Mubarak, I hope you're sitting back and watching TV

FRENCH PM Francois Fillon admitted President Mubarak paid for his family's NY holiday and lent them a plane.

Questionable politics: Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak (R) meeting with French Prime Minister Francois Fillon back in 2008. Fillon has admitted to a Mubarak funded trip to Egypt. Picture: Cris Bouroncle Source: AFP

The revelation came as France's foreign minister battled calls for her resignation over a New Year holiday in Tunisia during which she used a private jet owned by a tycoon allegedly close to the country's ousted dictator.

Fillon's office rushed out a statement after the satirical weekly Le Canard Enchaine broke the story about his trip to Egypt, where 300 people have been killed in massive protests seeking to oust Mubarak.

The Fillon family got a free holiday that lasted from December 26 to January 2 in the Nile resort of Aswan, were treated to a Nile boat ride and a flight on an Egyptian government plane to go sight-seeing, it said.

"The prime minister was lodged during this visit by the Egyptian authorities," the statement said, noting that Fillon met Mubarak in Aswan on December 30, before anti-government protests kicked off in Egypt.

...

Fillon has in recent days repeatedly backed his foreign minister Michele Alliot-Marie as she faced calls to step down over her alleged links with the ousted Tunisian strongman Zine El Abidine Ben Ali.

VP or our unofficial president General Soliman hold a meeting with the editor in chiefs of official , unofficial , daily and weekly publications in Egypt for the first time. This meeting was very interesting because the general told the reporters that Egypt has two options either to engage in the dialogue with the regime “actually him” or expect a coup !!!!

In other words the general warns us from a coup if we do not listen to his orders and leave the square !! The journalists did not leave him alone as they asked him what coup and who would do it and the general said anyone including the protesters , the army or even him !!

First of the definition of coup d'état is clear , it is movement by the army to topple the regime so it is either the army or him as when it comes to the protesters in the revolution.

Some journalists dared and told him to go ahead and head a coup !!

Yale students rally to support protests in Egypt
Published: Monday, Feb

moleary@nhregister.com / @nhregister

NEW HAVEN — Yale University students and local peace activists rallied in support of protesters in Egypt Monday and asked that the United States live up to its own ideals and withdraw support for President Hosni Mubarak.

Bassem Khalifa, an Egyptian citizen, who is studying at Yale’s School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, said the uprising in his country and in Tunisia shows the framework that has guided U.S. policy toward the Arab world for decades is incorrect.

...

“These people (protesters) are not for the most part Islamists. They are actually very secular ... most often people who have just had enough ... who have come out and demand their rights ... to choose their representatives” and seek economic opportunities, said Khalifa.

A resident of Cairo, Khalifa, 28, said the Obama administration has said a lot of nice things about the protesters in recent weeks, but behind the scenes it continues to support the military and security elements of the regime.

Omar Suleiman: the coup is the alternative if the failure of the dialogue with the opposition

2/8/2011 5:34:00 PM
Cairo - ASHA

Mr Omar Suleiman, Vice President of the Republic of dialogue and understanding is the first way to achieve stability in the country and out of the current crisis peacefully and steps related to the program of action to resolve all problems.

He added that the way the second alternative is a coup and we want to avoid the access to this coup, which means steps is calculated by the hasty and more irrational, which does not want to get him to Egypt in order to preserve and verify gains and achievements.

Mr. Omar Suleiman, in an interview with editors of national newspapers and political parties and private Tuesday that the word go, which repeated some of the protesters against the ethics of the Egyptians that respects the big and its Chairman, it is also a word insulting not only to the president, but the Egyptian people as a whole.
He stressed that President Mubarak is one of the heroes of the October War and the military establishment was keen to heroes in October and can not forget our history or lose.

He pointed to a continued dialogue with young people and political forces to emerge from the current crisis, stressing that he does not finish the system nor a coup, because that means chaos, which can reach into the unknown country, who do not want him.
