Private Sector Workers Must Stand Up with Union Workers
Edited on Fri Feb-18-11 07:47 PM by Homer12
I've been a member of DU since 1999, I don't post much, but I feel the need to Post now.

This is a call for all private sector workers to stand up with our brothers and sisters not only in Wisconsin, but around the nation.

The benefits, protections, and all the other federal and states rights we have were gained because of the sacrifices of Union Workers.

All American Workers must Unite, Private Sector workers need to bury their petty jealousy, because the Mega-Rich and their corporations will be coming to crush your rights next.

Thanks, Homer 12

1. What Homer 12 said.
Check out what JFK said about unions, courtesy of the great DUer FaygoKid:

"Those who would cripple collective bargaining do a disservice to democracy."

2. Spread the Word!
That's what needs to be considered and understood. We are all affected by this struggle and it has a more than symbolic implication for those who are employed.

In fact, seeing the power of organized workers can be a catalyst for change. What is going on in Wisconsin is pivotal and brings unions, as well as the exploitation they fight, to the national forefront. Their triumph can be ours and may even make more workers union conscious, while clearing the dirty film that corporations have smeared, conveniently, over it.

3. What do you mean "next"?
Private sector unions have been stomped on pretty hard already.

4. I agree, BUT this law WILL set a precedent..............
for rescinding ALL collective bargaining rights for ALL union workers. Then when the unions are broken, they can rescind ALL the laws involving worker's rights. It's a process. I might even say conspiracy.
