5. I love surf music, nice suits, and lucha libre masks.
Seriously, who doesn't? If you don't love those things, you're not a real person.

11. I want one of those masks.

LOL

My mom and I are fighting with the county as we develop this property. They are HUGE pains in the remote. I think Mamita and I each need a mask for the next time some inspector comes here to move the goal posts again. Put the fear of gawd into 'em.

LOL

14. I like surf music as much as the next guy, but the masks aren't necessary if you ask me.
That picture looks just like some of the DU mods . . or so I have been told.

6. I don't know how to say this without causing trouble.

First of all, if you had been listening to college radio, you'd have heard of these guys decades ago. Second, NPR is crushing college radio by coercing them with cash to play their content on their stations. I was just talking with a friend who is a dj at kxlu (which I highly recommend listening to if you're interested in the newest music), and he's actually gleeful that NPR could be on it's way to financial trouble. I love college radio. I know it's not a popular venue for many people. There are a number of college radio stations, such as KUSF in San Francisco and KTRU in Houston, which are being SOLD. SOLD! That is nearly 50 years worth of record and cd collections, and hard work by dj's over the years, being sold to help fund starving universities. KUSF was just sold for a measly $4 million. The FCC is a piece of shit for helping the corporate radio stations usurp these wonderful gems. Most people don't appreciate college radio. If NPR is moving in on stations to play their content, then I support the defunding of them.

I really don't know where to stop. If you think this discovery is good, then I strongly suggest that you listen to some college radio. By some, I mean I spent 30 years finding and listening to incredible shows. The value is in the number of dj's who have spent their lives finding music that is amazing. That doesn't mean new bands. I've been hearing bands from the 60's that I never knew existed. Our corporate world weeds out 90% of all music we hear. Most music never gets heard. And some of it is unbelievable. I was listening to rock from Uzbekistan this morning. Punk from places that rarely even hear about.

13. I disagree with the premise that college radio is the leading edge of creativity
in the music scene and to discover new music a person needs to go there.

The internet is what's changing the music scene, via downloads (legal or not), sites like iTunes and Amazon MP3 and newer places like SoundCloud and BandCamp where people can release their own music instead of partaking in the old and broken corporate game of buying out radio space.

15. It's not an 'or' thing.

I love our UH radio station AND Hawaii public radio. I loved WCAS, still listen to BU radio.

Agreed w your take on the FCC!
