1. Absolutely it's a fantasy - 'till we take back congress
And even then who knows??? Theoretically we should have been able to get it all, but with Joe Lie-berman and others pitching their hissy fits it's lucky we got anything. What we did get is at least an improvement, but nowhere near what I wanted. Even as disappointed as I was with the final outcome I certainly don't want to see the current bill overturned as there are many new constraints on insurance companies which are needed. I don't know where Weiner is coming from saying this being overturned could lead to Public Option - rose colored glasses I guess.
The Blue Dogs caused trouble in the House because they knew they wouldn't have to face any consequences from their own party. When good bills got to the Senate, the Democrats wouldn't change the rules that allowed the GOP to block almost every piece of legislation and hold this country hostage to their agenda.
The problem with most Democrats is that they don't stand up and fight when they actually have the power to get things done. They only fight when the GOP is in control ... and even then, many back down in the end. :(
