My silly prediction
I envision a future in America that is not pretty. Now that the bloodless coup happened and the wealthy purchased Washington D.C., the anti-progressive movement has no boundaries whatsoever.

The first wave will hit the inner cities of the northeast. Lack of jobs, no money, high food costs, no future, will spark a reaction that is without planning or purpose, and will essentially be chaotic rioting and looting. The National Guard will be called out. This will spread to other cities, not unlike the middle east today, and will be reported as terrorism.

Next, the teabrains will see this as a threat to fascism(yes they love fascism), and will condemn this as a minority takeover of their land and take action. So this will become the civil war. White rednecks vs. everyone else. These corporate loving militias will protect the wealthy at all costs. They know that the real enemies are environmentalists, non-whites, unions, and the disabled. Cities will burn for months.

Eventually the teabrains will be overwhelmed and give up. This will set the stage for the real revolution that must occur if democracy is the desired system of government. The capitalists will fight this with everything they have at their ready. The military, goon squads, mercenaries, and the propaganda of the media.

The outcome is still fuzzy. It'll be a fight to the finish. America will be totally different.

Crazy huh?

1. Not crazy, but not desirable, either.
What you just described is now increasingly plausible - the domestic form of World War III. The whole point of the Cold War was to avoid the nuclear war option, and so far, that has been avoided by some very ugly alternatives.

There's gotta be another way, even if we have to create that option, ourselves. But, don't see it coming out of either political party.

2. It's possible, but I don't see that first wave hitting the Northeast
I see it hitting the rust belt- Ohio, Michigan.

18. rust belt continues on to New Jersey
after Ohio, Pennsylvania had a steel industry that was a very large part of their beginning, see Bethlehem Steel, Carpenter Steel, Parrish Pressed Steel and others

Your scenario seems right to me, when I visit the folks back in PA I wonder what the hell do these people do for a living.

3. I have a sick gut feeling you are right.
I see it starting in the mid-west, Chicago, but almost simultaneously breaking out in most large cities in the country. There will likely be something happen to spark the outrage; it will not be necessarily logical; it will be passionate and violent, not polite like Wisconsin. And difficult to put down, because most in charge of the gov. don't care about the people who are rioting and protesting, nor understand the underlying causes. Just like the dictators of the middle east.

6. And generally it spreads, one city and then to several overnight, and fringe groups see
it as permission to do whatever. I'm concerned because I think there is a lot of violence potential just under the surface sadly in this country. The gov. will do whatever to suppress it without understanding the underlying cause and we will move toward a police state to ensure the status quo of the real wealth and power of this country. And America will change drastically. And it's already changed drastically since I was a kid.

the violence will come from desperation, a barometer of the breakdown of society.

5. I know exactly what you mean, I think similar sometimes. In the corp. world I
was always pretty good at seeing the writing on the wall before others as to where we were headed and got my resume on the street. Now I get the same feelings about the future of America. The signs are all there. They've been some major tectonic plate shifts in power and money in this country, as well as, some really fanatical groups.

I feel the same, sort of a sixth sense or whatever, there could be some really unpleasant times ahead much as you described. I've been driving some people around me nuts, because I mention it, but damn, people can't just keep their heads stuck in the sand thinking this is the 50's and all is going to be well.

16. It's also the level of hatred in this country anymore. I don't ever recall so much
outright hatred in the country, one group constantly against another and non-compromising.

9. I hope your prediction is inaccurate
Silly or crazy as it may be, it's a possibility.

It takes a great deal to get Americans worked up - but when more people lose access to the basic necessities of life... it's hard to predict what will happen. These budget cuts taking place right now amidst the "news" that corporations are paying no taxes (who knew? Just us crazy leftist commie nuts)... it's despicable. That so few in government are honestly representing what the real issue is is despicable. All this talk of shared sacrifice...

17. You're quite correct! There's an invisible wall, so to say, haves on one side with a
bought government, have nots on the other side, and the haves are busy installing razor fence on the top of the wall.

20. It will be worse than that, but what does worse mean in a world of worseties?
Future human spirits will be squelched into meaninglessnesses, for the sake of a few undeserving overly powerful scared children in adult bodies.

Worse, awful, bleak, horrible, et. al, will all have unrecognizable meanings between those in the future and those of us using them now.

Until then, there is still some really good ice cream out there.
