Smile or Die
Video of a artist using cartoon images to express a kind of corporate censorship of reality.

5. I thought it mocked people like sarah palin.
But I agree on the artwork. I thought it was great artwork too.

7. Can you expound on your contention that the message is rubbish?
Edited on Sat Apr-02-11 05:11 PM by Nostradammit
This progressive democrat found it very cogent.

9. Are there any specific points in the message you'd like me to expound upon or should I just start
with the general premise that you should have a good attitude in the workplace?

10. "or should I just start with the general premise that you should have a good attitude"
"...in the workplace?"

I think you may have misinterpreted this video because you do realize that this video is mocking that premise don't you?

11. I don't think the speaker was dismissing a good attitude.
To me, it was more about the runaway trend of magical positive thinking, and that optimism is more important than anything, when it comes to making things go your way.

14. Seems more likely. And fact is studies have shown that Neurolinguistic...
...Programming is not the possitive thinking panacea it's made out to be.

It only actually works in those disposed for it to work. Surprise surprise, possitive thinking works for possitive thinkers. If you're a bit of a gloomy gus, no amount of standing in front of a mirror telling yourself that you're a good person will work, your natural disposition will automatically fill in enough "no I'm not"s to defeat the effect.

For most people it's just a waste of time. For a few it can even be positively dangerous.

For most people, a quiet word of public praise will have far, far more effect than any number of seminars exhorting them to see the worth within themselves. They just want to know that SOMEONE ELSE has seen the worth within and even better acknowledged it for others to hear.

A boss who pays attention to small possitive details in addition to the negatives, will be forgiven almost anything in the way of screaming tirades.
