A couple of years of nothing, now TWICE in 3 days! (WOO WHO)

Before Wednesday night there had never been a Labor Forum post that made it to the front page greatest list.

My post celebrating the first time: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=439&topic_id=782270

Current post: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=367&topic_id=31520&mesg_id=31520

The Labor Forum is rocking tonight: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topics&forum=367

I have so many good friends here I have never met. You all mean so much to me. THANK YOU!

OS

1. I am hoping this is the beginning of a true rebirth for labor & unions
Somewhere, I know my late father would be smiling at our fighting back at the "bastids."

3. When my brother and sister
are speaking up for unions (I have alwasys been the only one of the siblings to do so) you know something has happened.
The sleeping dogs had to wake up and take a stand. They, and many others who are not union members, know things have gone too far.

2. All that consistent posting has come into its own, OS.
You know, a lot of people are too young to appreciate the history of the labor movement in this country.
If you have any articles or videos to share, this is the perfect time to remind folks of what
(my) grandparents and parents fought so hard for, and what we are losing so fast.

9. People died trying to unionize.
Unarmed anthracite coal miners were gunned down in cold blood two miles from where I live. My uncle was arrested several times when he was trying to organize local silk mills. Those sacrifices can't be have made only to have them wiped away by greedy SOBs who care about nothing but their bottom line.

10. The teeny Southern town I live in is a monument to anti-unions.
One of the biggest employers in this town since 1927 was Vanity Fair, the owner moved the mill from the North to here, in the late 20's, to avoid any possibility of unionizing.
Practically every obituary of anyone over 60 has, for years, mentioned that they worked at Vanity Fair.
That company kept generations of people fed and housed ( at very low wages, of course) since the 30's
throughout the county.
Wasn't until NAFTA that the company moved out of town, section by section.
The last section closed 2 years ago.

8. No. Thank YOU.
You are the reason for the increased awareness of labor issues. Granted, the widespread attack on collective bargaining helped to wake people up but you keep the issue in the forefront. Thank you for your tireless efforts.
