FL Committee OKs Drug Testing Of Welfare Recipients (recipients would pay for their own tests)
Committee OKs Drug Testing Of Welfare Recipients

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Welfare recipients would pay for their own drug testing and come up clean before before receiving financial assistance under a bill that passed a House committee on Thursday.

Backers said the requirement would send a tough but needed message to substance abusers who use taxpayer money to feed their addiction instead of their families.

"The testing would keep the state assistance program from being abused," Gov. Rick Scott said support of the bill. "The testing is the right thing to do."

The House Judiciary Committee voted 13-5 to approve HB 353, which would deny benefits to recipients of financial assistance for at least one year if they fail a drug test. A second failed test would kick them off the assistance rolls for three years.

1. Guilty, until proven innocent.
I'm sure that is how it's suppose to go...

2. Making them pay for the test themselves is grounds for a court challenge.

Do these bozos want to waste Florida tax dollars in federal court? They have to provide a needs exception or else the federal court will strike it down just like they strike down requirements for voter ID that do not have a needs exception.

3. And if you cannot afford to pay my company (which I put in my wife's name)...
...then no welfare for you.

Let's start drug testing the executives of any corporation that receives corporate welfare.

Asshat.

4. Does the drug testing company take food stamps?
I was under the impression if you apply for food stamps, it's because you have fallen on hard times and don't have enough money to buy food.

7. Other than cannabis, every other drug
is out of your system after three days. You think this is really about the dope? Fail. This greedy criminal fucker is just lining his pockets with testing money at his clinics. I honestly cannot begin to describe the horrific things I wish upon Rick Scott. My post would be deleted. Although, just for fun, feel free to imagine what I could do with a jar of leeches, some strawberries, and a container of lemon juice. :grr:
