Jon Stewart Mocks Obama Campaign Video: From ‘Yes We Can’ To ‘You Know, Whatever’
To no one’s surprise, Barack Obama announced earlier today that he will seek a second term in the 2012 election, complete with promotional video featuring demographically diverse voters just like one and I. Perhaps more surprising was the degree of enjoyment that Daily Show host Jon Stewart took in ruthlessly ridiculing the Obama video, and yes, his failed promises of transparency in his first term.

As we’ve noticed before, when it comes to this White House, Stewart is not necessarily the strict left-of-center ideologue that he’s made out to be by right-of-center commentators; The Daily Show has mined the alleged hypocrisies, gaffes and foibles that have come from this administration for strong comedic material. But the following clip appears to be a tad harsher, perhaps foretelling a critical narrative for the coming election coverage?

1. "Yes we can... but..."
Stewart didn't write that.

2. Jon, go make you unfunny face noises.
and go fuck yourself while you are at it.

criticism is okay, but he's got some kind of huge Axe to grind. Maybe Obama didn't invite him to the inaugeration or something and little Jonny is perturbed that his specialness wasn't recognized.

4. he is an entertainer, a host of a comedy show - on Comedy Central
lighten up - no axe to grind - just another show to host - a comedy show. People watch to be entertained and to laugh a bit.

18. "Entertainer" is not a synonym for "Idiot that nobody should listen to"
Entertainers can be intelligent. Entertainers can be insightful. And most importantly--entertainers can be RIGHT.

You can shoot that messenger all day long, but it's not going to silence or diminish the power of the message.

22. no doubt about that - I should have been more clear
I was responding to the message that claimed Jon has "some kind of huge Axe to grind. Maybe Obama didn't invite him to the inaugeration or something and little Jonny is perturbed that his specialness wasn't recognized".

I agree with you 100% - he may be an entertainer, but that does not make his message any less spot-on.

29. I'm sorry.
So many people have been using "entertainer" as some kind of code word synonymous with "not worth listening to". I'm sorry for snarking at you.

6. I believe "Unfunny Face Noises" is the name of his next comedy book.
If not, it should be.

8. Or maybe
he doesn't believe Obama has lived up to his campaign promises. It's a comedy news show. They make fun of all sorts of people. Especially politicians.

13. Anything specific you didn't like about what Stewart says?
Yes, I'm sure Stewart does have an axe to grind with lying politicians. What is wrong with that?

16. altho I really enjoyed that Rally he gave
it seems that he is a bit different since then. guess he couldn't take the criticism of him comparing the right and the left equally in the hate talk - making it sound like it's the same on both sides - which is a huge lie or he has a huge hole in the sand he's dug his head into. Either isn't complimentary to him.

so I think the funny man is just pissed and getting his knocks in, or something.

but maybe he's still funny, just that I can't watch him anymore.

What exactly has Obama lied about? I mean open lies like Bush and his thugs did... not being able to carry out all campaign promises as quickly and throughly as hoped I don't consider a lie. Not being able to deal with and get what you want from the fucking asshole fascist party isn't exactly lieing either.

let him rag on the President and that's somehow a bad thing?

What the fuck ever dude.

How can Stewart pass that one up? And who is allowed to call Obama on his bullshit?
