And a couple of months ago I asked an inspector point blank, "Why isn't Blankenship in jail?" His answer was, "The investigation is still happening." My thought is that he will never see the inside of a jail cell but some of his underlings will do serious time.
I don't think he will ever see a jail cell. He has too many judges in his pocket and he will find a way to blame underlings, such as managers and foremen. Maybe even the miners themselves.
he killed his victims all at once (e.g. Columbine) rather than one by one.
And under murder-for-hire laws, if you pay for a hit (which he might as well have by skimping on safety), you are just as guilty as if you had pulled the trigger yourself.
