WTF Senator Gillibrand to deliver opening remarks to a PUMA race hate conference
BIG NEWS: Senator Kirsten Gillibrand will deliver the welcoming remarks at our big event on May 18th. And, watch for more big announcements!

And please: we have events all year round, but this event is when we raise the monies needed to do the work we do all year. If you like what this organization does to improve the lives of women and girls, please:

http://www.thenewagenda.net/2011/04/02/our-big-news-and-you/

I have a great deal of respect for Senator Gillibrand, she has more than proven herself. Her researchers, with this decision. Not so much.

The founding members of The New Agenda were racist PUMA sites; Together4US, Party Unity My Ass (PUMA), IOwnMyVote, Just Say No Deal and Vote Democracy ’08. The infamous PUMA Harriet Christian was an early memeber but disassocitaed from it.

Siskind is a regular poster and front pager at the racist and sexist NoQuarter hate site run by Republican Larry Johnson. A site whose hatred got so out of hand the blog owner threatened to call the Secret Service on his own readers.

The New Agenda has primarily been used as a tool to promote Sarah Palin to Liberal forums on the http://www.huffingtonpost.com/tag/amy-siskind">Huffington Post and CNN who use Siskind as evidence that the Obama administration is sexist.

The New Agenda is the only womens groups that quite openly says if you are concerned about racism go elsewhere.

In reading our blog, we seem to hitting against a new issue – the issue of racism. I would make the same request of our viewers. There are many wonderful national organization devoted to speaking out against racism. For those of you that find your life impacted by the color of your skin, you will probably prefer to join organizations which are devoted to that important issue.

Senator, I implore you. Do not lend credibility to these bunch of racist Palinites.

7. A name made up by Hillary haters to bash her supporters.
Which bashing I now see is being transferred to Gillibrand.

Considering that none of the predictions for the so-called PUMAs panned out, a person would have to be really ignorant to continue using the term.

9. Really? That would come as a surprise to PUMA organizations still up and running.
for example:
http://pumapac.org/
and
http://riverdaughter.wordpress.com/

And about the name:

Diehard Hillary Clinton supporters who still refuse to accept that the nomination race is over have given themselves a name, Pumas, and a logo that the in-house lawyers at the Puma sportswear brand might like to take a look at. In the network of blogs where the name originated, it stood for "Party Unity, My Ass!" - a defiant shout of opposition to the notion that they should fall silent in order to speed the healing of Democratic wounds. Now that the Pumas have formed their own fundraising committee, however, they seem to have had a change of heart. According to their site, Pumapac.org, Puma stands for "People United Means Action", an exactly opposite sentiment, prompting the thought that if they don't iron out such inconsistencies in their message very soon indeed, there's a serious chance that Clinton might not be the next president.

13. PUMA made the name up themselves.
The "bashing" is not being transferred to Senator Gillibrand but she should be informed of what The New Agenda really is and who its supporters are. Their more delightful supporters can be found at such great Liberal sites as NoQuarter and Hillbuzz.

4. What do PUMA's have to do with Palin?
Edited on Tue Apr-05-11 08:45 PM by eilen
They are Hillary Clinton supporters. Kirsten is a good friend of Hillary. This group looks like a Women's Rights group, a feminist group.

6. From her columns, she
seems to only be supporting Sarah Palin in terms of feminism and defending against what she considers mysogeny. I don't think politically she is in agreement with the issues Palin represents.

She seems to be focused on next wave feminism and rejection of cultural bias towards women.

She also stands up for Nancy Pelosi, Hillary Clinton, really an advocate for all women. In her Letterman column she demonstrates that when the issue is unfair treatment of politically prominent women, it is not okay when Democrats do it.

She sounds like a serious advocate for women.

8. Not Michelle Obama though
http://www.noquarterusa.net/blog/2009/04/06/michelle-is-not-arm-candy-she/

Not if women are concerned or worried about racism, not if women are pro-choice.

They called the Republican November election victory a victory for women - even though fewer women ended up getting elected. They are a Rethug shill group.
