Looking back from the distant future...

1. Honestly, you really have to put the Civil War up there
We're still trying to heal from that one.

6. WWI missing. Civil War missing.
Libya? Why not include Grenada?

God, I hate DU polls.

2. WWII cost the most lives, however our nation was not divided.
Vietnam was the most divisive and deadlier than any of the other wars listed...though of course the more recent ones could yet reach that level if it goes on for many more years.

I agree with the other post here, however, that the Civil War was arguably the worst, as it was fought on U.S. soil and pitted friends and family against each other, destroying the economy of the South and laying havoc to much of the north with massive casualties.

5. I'm only 21 so I have no idea. But I'm inclined to believe the current era is the worst.

11. I don't think the current era even comes close to the Civil War, Vietnam, or WWII
If it spreads to Iran, or if we wind up directly at war with a nuclear-armed Pakistan, then it might be up there.

8. God help us all if there is a war waged against Iran.
Such a war will lead to oil pipelines across the Middle East being blown up or sabotaged by Iranian agents. Hezbollah will be firing rockets into Israel from southern Lebanon in retaliation and at the behest of Iran, and this might drag Lebanon into the war. Scud missiles from Iran would be landing on the Green Zone in Baghdad constantly, killing many people. Shia militias in the south of Iraq would be encouraged to rise up and attack US soldiers in Iraq at the encouragement of Iran. Israel might be dragged into the war if Iran fires scud missiles on Tel Aviv. Gas prices will be somewhere north of 5.00/gallon. The US economy would be wrecked by those ridiculous energy prices. We would need a draft lottery to raise the manpower necessary to occupy the country of Iran, which is three times the size of Iran in landmass and population and is infinitely more mountainous.

It would be a clusterfuck.
