Petty Party Pedantic Pissitudinousness Prevails (re: new DNC head)
"She's taken on a big responsibility," he said. "I think she'll do a good job of it, but it's going to really strain her." (I don't like that she was appointed and I want to take a swat at her by suggesting its more work than she can handle. That oughtta show 'em, by gosh!)

Democratic aides say his concerns are unwarranted. (The Appointers weigh in to sit on the snarky smacker.)

"Jim McDermott has never served in a leadership position in Congress," a senior Democratic strategist told HuffPost. "So he really doesn’t have a clue what he’s talking about." (A hired gun takes a shot at the snarky smacker, suggesting he's really just a nobody. This is probably the hardest blow that was landed thus far. There can be little doubt the snarky smacker is rubbing his struck cheek over that one.)

Former Bill Clinton adviser, Donna Brazile, will fill in as interim DNC chair until Wasserman Schultz can be officially elected to the post. (Think about that: "until she can be officially elected to the post." So its a foregone conclusion, huh? Why bother with the cost of an "election" if that's the case?)(Donna Brazile. Oh for joy, for joy. :eyes: )

I aways thought she had a higher profile as an Al Gore adviser and an Obama adviser.:eyes:

No big deal. Just wondering.

Milquetoast spineless weenie! She was NO help to Al Gore - played defense the whole time instead of offense, always wussing out about the critiques of him wearing earth tones and supposedly inventing the internet and "being nice."

FUCK HER FUCK HER FUCK HER FUCK HER!!!!!!!!!!!!

She's worth NOTHING!!!!!! She gave him a shit-load of bad advice. Run AWAY from Clinton and his record, Al! RUN AWAY!!! WHAT AN IDIOT!!!! She is worth LESS THAN NOTHING!!!!!! If she's in charge even for 15 nanoseconds, we're in BIG trouble!!!!

She was just too "center" to be really effective. She also had a nasty habit of capitulating.

7. Could be correct. I based my comment on my observations that
she rarely said anything that was innovative or highly insightful. In any event, if she was in charge of Gore's campaign, she was not effective, nor was he.

8. I've since seen her in a lot of panel discussions and talking-head venues and stuff on TV.
Edited on Wed Apr-06-11 05:21 PM by calimary
She is the Miss Universe of UNDERwhelm.

She might as well go onstage to the podium wearing a "Kick Me" sign, or a sandwich board saying "Hi! Wait a moment so I can lie down and then you can run all over me!"

She offered NOTHING in terms of forceful rebuttal, she was way too polite and allowed herself to be talked over and interrupted and she NEVER attempted to outshout anyone or to get the last word. And she was ALWAYS WAY WAY WAY too conciliatory, WAY too even-tempered and even-voiced, WAY too interested in caving and compromising and not making many waves and being nice and playing by the Marquis of Queensbury playbook. She was exactly the person who made sure she had a nice feather duster to take to the next knife fight, and a ping pong paddle to take to the gunfight scheduled after that. She was fucking USELESS. An absolute disgrace! And when she was faced with the barbarians at the gate, all she did was look out the window and offer - "hello there, please play nice, okay? And please stay off the grass?" (Yeah, like they'd ever take what SHE said at any face value...) Al Gore didn't have a prayer with her in command.

She's EXACTLY what we DON'T need.

bush had attack dogs running his campaign. Gore hired a piece of meat.

Our best hope as far as she's concerned is that she goes over and starts working for the Dark Side.

12. "Nice" ANYTHING is NOT what we need at the moment.
Nice gets you some lovely tire tread marks across your face and stomach because you've allowed yourself to be run over by your enemies, instead of putting up ANY fight at all.

Nice gets you kicked off the stage with boot marks on your ass.

Nice gets you LAUGHED OFF the stage by the big wheeler dealers in the back room who hope they ALWAYS see you suiting up to do battle for the other side when the war's on.

14. There was no memo. This isn't about "liking" her or not.
Good lord. Not everything has to be filtered by talking sides, you know.

She got appointed. McDermott said what he said. Her people said what they said. I took direct quotes from a news story and added commentary (intended to be humorous, I might add - as was the stretched silly alliteration of the title) about the slap fight, not about the politics.

I don't much give a fuck if you like her or not. Personally, my jury is still out on her.

And you really ought to get that jerking knee looked at. It might pop ya in the jaw some time.

Like I said. I like her, the fact that you feel compelled to inform me that you "don't give a fuck" about that indicates that maybe I'm not the only one with restless jerking knee syndrome.

I wasn't aware that there was some big outrage or controversy around her being appointed party chair, but then I've been paying more attention to the radiation spewing reactors in Japan than intra-party fighting at the DNC.

Some people get it. Some people filter it by the author. Some people filter it by assumed pro/anti Obama. Some people look for heavy meaning.

Clearly, you missed the point, too, but not the opportunity to take a shot.

36. Here's what I've got for her, after a minute or so of digging:
http://www.ontheissues.org/FL/Debbie_Wasserman_Schultz.htm

examples:

  • Rated 0% by the NRLC, indicating a pro-choice stance. (Dec 2006)

  • Voted NO on making the PATRIOT Act permanent. (Dec 2005)

  • Rated 100% by the HRC, indicating a pro-gay-rights stance. (Dec 2006)

  • Voted YES on enforcing limits on CO2 global warming pollution. (Jun 2009)

  • Voted NO on allowing electronic surveillance without a warrant.

  • Voted NO on making the PATRIOT Act permanent. (Dec 2005)

Honestly, the worst thing about her that I can see is that she's rated -10 by NORML, "indicating a hard on drugs stance". But given the across-the-board cowardice of our party on the long-overdue topic of marijuana legalization, I'm hardly surprised.

Overall, she doesn't sound that bad. Of course, I don't see support for TARP as any kind of line in the sand for progressivism. YMMV.
