3. Yeah, it was good to see movement from inside the egg
Too bad he/she (is that dad?) sat back down, but I'll bet that baby is out soon

2. How far out of the egg has the eaglet come?
Edited on Wed Apr-06-11 05:37 PM by catgirl
There was a hole already this morning on one end of the egg. It takes a while to fully come out.

35. It's not a puppy. It's a muskrat, a natural prey animal for eagles.
I think you can calm down now.

36. And it's not unusual for puppies to be taken by birds of prey
It's just not common to be watching it live on a cam. If I were a neighbor and my puppy went missing and I tuned in and saw it in the nest, I'd be freaked out, understandably.

BTW, I am calm.

41. Yup. Oh well. Little doggie out running loose gets grabbed by
an eagle. Nature, red in tooth and claw. Little doggie'd do the same to a squirrel if it caught it. I can't see the difference, frankly.

32. Really? So, you think doggies are more important than muskrats?
Why is that? Muskrats are simple little vegetarian animals that mean no harm. I love watching them in the little lake near me. Dogs? Not so much. The dogs that visit that same lake seem to do little else than harass the geese and kill the goslings. I can't see how they're of more use than the inoffensive muskrat, really.

Perhaps you can explain it to me.

37. Dinner for Eagles...Hmmm....wild animal or a 5 year old's pet dog? What's to explain?
:eyes: So, you don't like dogs? Or you just prefer muskrats because they're so warm and cozy to snuggle with and give you MORE unconditional love....more-so than dogs?

38. Anyone living near or visting where the eagles have a nest should be smart enough not to let a small
dog out.

Basic. Common. Sense.

44. That's true, but I wouldn't know if I had nesting Eagles somewhere in the neighborhood.
Why would anyone else know if it's in their neighborhood? Unless the counties send out notices. Can't use Basic-Common-Sense if you don't know about it.

46. People living in areas where there is an eagle nest do know about it.
And if you have a small dog, you make it your business to know.

But, go ahead and argue, then blame the eagles, because that makes soooo much sense.

You're picking a fight just to be picking a fight with THE WRONG PERSON! I have NEVER blamed the Eagles for a damn thing. Read the fucking thread before you accuse me of something, bobbolink. All I said was I wouldn't be able to watch a dog be devoured. That's hardly "blaming" the Eagles. That's ME loving dogs and the importance of them in a family's life. Sheesh. Get a fucking grip.

42. No, I like dogs a lot. It's just that there's no appreciable difference
between a dog and a muskrat. Both are prey if an eagle sees them and they're small enough to fly away with.

Well for me, everytime I climb up a tree and try to hang out on the branch above the nest, the stupid eagles leave and don't come back, and I never get to just watch them.
