Worst Honeymoon Ever Hits Six Natural Disasters
Poor Stefan and Erika Svanstrom! The newly-married Swedish couple and their infant daughter set out on a four-month honeymoon in December and managed to come into contact with six different natural disasters.

Six! That is beyond even romantic-comedy levels. The Svanstroms' first brush with the violent hand of nature came almost immediately after taking off, when they were stranded in Germany by one of Europe's worst-ever snowstorms. Next up:

(T)hey experienced the devastation of a cyclone in Cairns and the flooding in Brisbane, and narrowly escaped the bushfires in Perth, the Expressen newspaper reported....

Just before the trio arrived in New Zealand, the 6.3-magnitude earthquake hit Christchurch.

So that's five natural disasters on one honeymoon, at which point one imagines them saying to each other "Ha! How could this honeymoon possibly get worse? Time to head to our next destination... Japan." Yes. Japan! The Svanstroms were in Tokyo when the massive quake and resultant Tsunami hit.

Obviously they are being smited by god for having sex out of wedlock.

BUT, they are rich, and the rich are blessed by god!

on edit: but really, in 10 yrs this honeymoon will be the subject of epic stories at family reunions. And how will any future vacation measure up? "Bungee jumping? Meh."

4. That sucks. I had a similar (though not as catastrophic) tour one summer.
It was a whirlwind business project that required me to go to various places around the country within two months or so.

Every trip had some kind of emergency or disaster:

Going to Arizona, my flight had to make an emergency landing in Colorado because an Iraq War vet had a life-threatening health issue.

While in San Francisco, there was a minor earthquake.

My hotel was literally next to the bridge that collapsed in Minnesota. I got to the hotel an hour or two before the bridge collapsed. I was on the phone when it went down, so I didn't see it actually happen, but I could look out my window and see the emergency and news crews arrive at the spot where the bridge used to be.

Wisconsin: there was the threat of serious flooding.

I began to feel like Schleprock from the Pebbles and Bam-Bam Show (if you never saw this cartoon from the '70s, there was a character named Schleprock who brought bad luck with him where ever he went).

6. A FOUR-MONTH honeymoon??
Edited on Thu Apr-07-11 10:16 AM by eppur_se_muova
A "honeymoon" is literally one month -- damn those Socialist Swedes and their bloated Happiness Index!

And a honeymoon with their *infant daughter* !! Oh, pass the smelling salts! Surely God has smoten five corners of the Earth to punish these fornicators! I can't wait to see how World Nut Daily covers this!
