My daughter just got home from work
We were talking about my impending lay-off (yes, I am one of those non-essential gubermint workers) and she said that it was all the Democrat's fault for not compromising on the budget cuts. She is a moderate with slight bent toward progressive. This is evidently what the news is saying. Of course I tried to set her straight and told her that anymore cuts would result in children and old people starving.

1. Did y'all talk about the budget being due last October when the fiscal
year started, and that the elections were not for another month, and the dems controlled the house, senate, and WH, and the budget/fiscal year beginning is the same time every year?

Why no budget when it was due? Why continuing resolutions for six months?

5. Where have you been for the last four years that Republicans had a permanent
filibuster going on.Democrats did not control sixty votes in the senate so nothing could pass that Republicans did not want to pass..Did you somehow forget that or are you just blowing smoke?

4. Republican argument = "Democrats are at fault if they don't compromise with everything we want"
And sadly many Americans, like your daughter, are buying it.

:(

6. Unfortunately, she's just repeating what she hears from the MSM.
They work very hard to make it seem like the R's are trying to compromise...but the Dems won't budge!

9. It's a lose-lose anyway you slice it. The gummit will be shut down and there WILL be a compromise.
Congratualations to the thuglicans, they got four things they wanted.
1.) To shut down the gummit to show to their nutjobbers how powerful they are
2.) cut the poor and elderly out of the budget
3.) make PO look weak.
4.) stifle the economic recovery.

11. I told her that
althouh I din't have the estimated dollar values. I did tell her to talk to her grandpa--although not a life-long Democrat he has considered himself one since the Reagan/Bush years. Smart man--he keeps up with all of the news and can identify the BS when he hears or sees it
