...unfortunately some will not accept incremental, realistic improvement and support no reform at all unless it is what they deem "perfect." Unfortunately "perfect" bills rarely (if ever) pass, and "perfect" solutions are rarely (if ever) found.
In the meantime, currently at least 25% of the voters in this nation still have NO paper ballot of any kind and are at the complete mercy of proprietary software on aging and insecure paperless Direct Recording Electronic (DRE) voting machines. With no paper ballot there is nothing -- ever -- to meaningfully audit or recount. And internet voting is rearing its insecure, dangerous and ugly head as the next big moneymaker being promoted by the vendors who are trying to get its nose in the door.
Right now the baseline for reform should be a voter-marked, voter-verified paper ballot for EVERY single vote in every state in the USA. We can then work upward from there in terms of improved counting procedures, auditing, and recounting of votes. But first we need a voter-marked and voter-verified paper ballot. Everywhere.
There are still a great many of us who have never given up and have been working for years on a realistic solution for this. (click link in my sig) We are found in many states and nationally. But we need help and support -- and we would appreciate some (realistic) people joining us.
