Timeless George Carlin: "It's called the American Dream...
...because you have to be asleep to believe it."

Asleep, or just plain stupid.

Someone told me recently that he makes "A LOT OF MONEY" by believing in and following the American Dream. I got him to give me his definition of "a lot of money." I couldn't stop laughing when he told me. Low six figures. He would be viewed as successful by the working class, but as a joke by the ruling class. So I told him, "If the truly rich found a bag full of what you think is 'a lot of money' they wouldn't bother to bend over to pick it up. You aren't rich, you are paid off, and paid off cheap. You are a buffer between the rich and the poor. You've been tossed enough crumbs to ignore those getting no crumbs at all."

1. This is why politicians take chump change and then give away billions
to their sponsors. Fucking stupid people with egos to match.

2. It's really hard to get those guys and the poor wage slaves
to see that those 6 figure salaries really are chump change.

I usually tell them this slightly sexist story:

An old billionaire found himself a young, beautiful wife. The only fly in the ointment was that she wanted her mother to live with them. Well, not wanting to upset the new wife, he decided the best thing to do was to get rid of Mom every day by sending her out shopping with $1000 to spend, every single day.

For a million dollars, he'd get rid of her for nearly three years.

For a billion dollars, he'd get rid of her for almost three thousand years, more time than has elapsed since the birth of Christ. That is the difference between a million and a billion.

And there are now men who are worth tens of billions of dollars.

That fifty thousand a year the struggling working class thinks would be sheer heaven and making enough for the American dream isn't enough to get these guys to bother cashing the check.
