Question about Social Security payments.

Does anyone know if all SoSec payments are mailed out/posted electronically at the same time?

Or are they staggered throughout the month? I'm just curious how this might figure in to the shutdown.

1. They're staggered.

It depends on when your birthday is, I believe. My husband gets his the first Wednesday of each month and I get mine on the last.

2. My father in law gets his SSI the first week of the month

I get my SSDI the third Wednesday every month.

Both are direct deposit.

3. SS payments will not be affected by the shutdown.

4. Social Security are issued on the 1st, SSI is paid on the Third.

When I was in the National Guard in the 1980s, we were paid on the Second of the Month, Welfare payments are paid biweekly in most states.

Please note if the day is on a weekend or federal holiday, the day will be paid on the day before.

5. Actually, Soc. Sec. checks come on different Wed.

Which week of the month depends on your birthday. ( Like the poster above says)

the bummer, by the way, is on the months where there are 5 Wed. ( and there are 4-5 of those a year)
we have to go 5 weeks between checks.
