Sign Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) Petition !
SIGN THIS ERA PETITION to strengthen America, its Economy, and
its PEOPLE--all of them:

http://www.thepetitionsite.com/2/ratify-the-equal-rights-amendment-to-ensure-equality-for-all-americans/

Maybe you don't know that the ERA never passed! Or that we
only need 3 more UNratified states to vote for it so ERA can
be added to the U.S. Constitution! And, YES, ERA is still
"viable and contemporaneous"--ERA IS ALIVE AND WELL,
and needs YOU! Seven (7) states file bills almost every year
since ERA slid into a holding pattern, just shy of passing by
3 states. I am spearheading ERA bills before Florida's
legislature for NINE years--FL House refuses to hear it
(because they know it will pass, and Big Business Buddies will
have to pay equal wages (now just 72% of men's wages, same
job, etc). HUGE CHANGE A-COMIN'---> Four of us state
Leaders now have gotten together under our umbrella, the new
UNITED 4 EQUALITY, and created a new BILL BEFORE
CONGRESS--HJRes. 47 by Cong. Tammy Baldwin. #47 provides a
faster, smoother way to the UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION for
ERA. For MALE & FEMALE ALIKE!

3. Believe me, I know that the ERA never passed...
I have supported this for 40 years now. This country seems to be going backwards instead of forwards. Most of my young women students actually think they have equal rights.

Welcome to DU SandyO.

5. Sign the ERA Petition
Thanks, prairierose! WE ARE LOOKING FOR YOU! and others of
the same mindset:
Do sign the petition that goes right to the Congressional
Judiciary Committee urging them to pass our HJRes 47, the
first new ERA bill before Congress in years. We have a
choice: either we work hard enough to get 47 passed so ERA
has a fast-track to the US Constitution, OR the other, Rep
Maloney and Sen. Menendez bills settle in and WE CAN LOOK FOR
ANOTHER 100 YEARS MINIMUM TO PASS ERA. WHAT'S YOUR CHOICE?
SIGN THE PETITION RIGHT NOW AND PASS IT ALONG:
http://www.thepetitionsite.com/2/ratify-the-equal-rights-amendment-to-ensure-equality-for-all-americans/
At the same time, we must all work in the UNratified states
(See map at www.2PassERA.org, and other GREAT Stuff) to get
JUST 3 MORE STATES TO VOTE YES ON ERA! Visit with me at
SandyO@PassERA.org. WE NEEEEED EVERYONE WHO BELIEVES IN
JUSTICE FOR ALL. Just write us with smiles, visit our site so
we move up the Google foodchain and leapfrog Phyllis
Schlafley's url! ERA: for male and female alike--we are
nonprofit, nonsexist, nonpartisan!

9. I signed the petition..I have signed more petitions over...
the years than I can remember. I used to be one of those carrying the petitions for signatures and protesting and testifying, writing to Congress and legislators. I worked very hard for this earlier in my life.

8. Young women are HUGE supporters of ERA
Prairierose,
I forgot to respond to yr wonderment at young women students--
They are NOT dumb, just that their history classes leave out
the fire=branding of the 1972 to 82 period of American History
with the Equal Rights Amendment on everyone's lips, huge
rallies everywhere and loads of $$ to fund both sides. (I
cannot get my head around how their could even BE opposition
to Equality for Everyone regardless of sex/gender in the
USA!~) But if I may suggest, bring up the ERA in class, send
them to sites www.2PassERA.org and United4Equality. First,
tho, tell them the Truth that few women (or men) know: That
WOMEN HAVE NO RIGHTS GUARANTEED IN THEIR CONTRACT WITH THEIR
NATION except the right to vote. ALL else is up for grabs, as
it is in any contract that is missing you by name guarantees
you nothing, ever(women/females etc are not words anywhere in
the US Constitution; his/him/male, etc are in there 39
times--I counted tho I have absolutely NOTHING against males
of any variety and we fight hard for their equal treatment,
too). We American females are relegated to pleading for what
should be our birthrights as humanbeings. Not in writing?
Fugeddabout it! Do see 2PassERA.org and learn stuff nobody
else knows about your position in the eyes of US Constitution.
Then write me, please please please: SandyO@PassERA.org. I
NEED to hear from you. It's FREE.

10. If I still taught in the traditional classroom, I would...
not bring up something like this in class without fear of losing my job. As it is, I do not bring up things like this in online discussions with students anymore for the same reason. I still need the job.

4. K & R and Done!
I went to a presentation at the church I belonged to back in the seventies, and this male church member spent an hour talking about how bad the ERA was. He never did read the amendment, before, during or after his harangue,so I asked him if he had a copy of it. He didn't. How difficult would it have been to read this:

Section 1. Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex.
Section 2. The Congress shall have the power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article.
Section 3. This amendment shall take effect two years after the date of ratification.

Of course, the "sex" thing was totally unacceptable to him. Dork.

And there are many other essential benefits, go to www.2PassERA.org and click on buttons at the top: ERA for Men...for Women...for Moms...for the Religious...for the Wary...for Legislators...and En Espanol! ERA is FOR EVERYONE AND THE ECONOMY! Why is it taking more than 90 years to pass? Strong objections from Corporate America, but MOSTLY because-- not enough Americans KNOW they are deprived---and not enough Americans KNOW there's a way UP and OUT of this morass--and not enough KNOW they MUST be part of their own solution, to join in, stir it up, and stick their necks out to make a single phone call maybe, attend a rally, get our ERA Bill updates. Send us your message of undaunted support along w/your address and we will link arms. IT'S FREE, NOBODY HERE GETS PAID A DIME for our 18/7 work For YOU. thanks!
