8. Many reasons, but them telling SLN not to do a story would cause them to do it.....
just to shut them up. Lorne Michaels would not allow them to censor the skits.

Too much material and not enough time.

5. That show has sucked since Eddie Murphy left it
It amazes me that it's still even on

It went from being clever, & edgy to self-aware and unfunny..

Whenever I tune in, I never stay long.. their sketches are painfully long & boring..and sometimes i am embarrassed for the performers..

People forget that when it started, it was a slap in the face of "the establishment", and was run by and performed by young people at the start of their careers.. they had nothing to lose , and were eager to be "dangerous".. The people running it are now older and it shows.. they spend too much time on inane, sloppy stuff, and the "acting" is not much above what you would see at "Talent Day" in junior high..

I am 55 and still laugh out loud at it. I loved when Tina Fey was on it. How soon you forget the Palin skits.

17. Not so - same to those who only loved original cast -
There have been ups and downs but cetainly many ups since way back when Murphy left.
Tina Fey was fantastic.
So was Chris Farley.
Mike Myers
Will Ferrell
If you lost interest after Eddie Murphy you missed a lot!

20. I have watched occasionally, but like I said in another reply, the good ones leave ASAP
and the newer replacements often fail to measure up..the material is not edgy or confrontational, as a rule.
There are a few good bits, but it's not worth "watching"..

I let my DVR watch & I fast forward through the crap.. I can watch a 90 minute SNL, in under 15 minutes:)

19. There were some funny years with Dana Carvey and Phil Hartman.
The shit they did around the 1992 election was fucking classic.

25. SNL has NEVER been funny, it's always retrospectively that people go...
"oh I remember that skit," or "oh I remember that gag."

SNL is funny sentimentally.

31. You are wrong. How old are you?
In the beginning, it was genuinely funny. Many of those original skits have become cultural reference points. You may not have liked it, but you do not get to determine what everyone else thinks is funny.

24. I doubt Lorne Michaels ever envisioned SNL to be a political mouthpiece for one side or the other.
I could be wrong though. I've been wrong before. Just ask my two ex-wives.

27. I was hopeful as well
I still find the show relevent and well staffed.

After the brush up here about Bill Maher I half expected to hear outrage about Adam Samberg's portrayal of Mort Feinstein CPA, where he played a stereotypical Jewish accountant so greedy for a buck he considered helping Ghadaffi when he raised the percentage from 10% to 11%.

Amisted, who plays Obama and so many other diverse characters on the show he's almost unrecognizable, is my favorite. Keenan Thompson and Kristen Wiig are outstanding talent too. I believe at least half the current staff would be able to pull a Sandler and move on to B movies anytime they want.

I hate to imagine NBC cowed Lorne Michaels into keeping hands off the You're Fired guy. What would they do? Cancel the show? Maybe Michaels has more crediblity than most by refusing to give attention to such an obvious a scammer. Trump would have paid for a free skit about himself tonight, and I'd be willing to bet he'd do a cameo if they wanted.

30. Didn't anyone watch last week's episode hosted by Elton John?
Seth Meyers did a segment on his Weekend Update totally ridiculing Trump's "fake run" for president and asked why the media was giving him so much attention. He then proceeded to take each current GOP forerunner and compare them to some crazy on the Apprentice and tell each of them they were fired.
