Iceland Government paid its citizens back for their losses & told the rest of the world to suck it

'Such a revulsion'

..............

Backers of a "yes" vote had argued the repayment deal was the best way to resolve the issue in terms of cost and risk to Iceland.

The "no" camp said the Icelandic taxpayer was under no legal obligation to pay for a private bank's losses and that the deal would put a heavy burden on the nation.

.............

Iceland's three main banks collapsed within days of each other in October 2008.

The government compensated Icelandic savers, but overseas customers faced losing all of their money.

2. Wow. A government willing to fight for its own people
even when they aren't wealthy. A government that DOESN'T just roll over whenever the Corporate Alpha Dog is in the room.

I didn't know such a thing could exist!

3. The people fought for themselves
This is the second time they have voted against it.

4. Can you even imagine the U.S. government EVER caring THAT much about its citizens?
I can't. They may compensate the wealthy multi-million/billionaires, but they sure as hell wouldn't reimburse mom and pop the pittance they had in the bank.

What's that say about this country? Everyone here knows our government would NEVER do this.

KUDOS to Iceland! A government that actually stands by its people! Impressive.

5. Their country was not dumbed down
like we have been. They struck back lightening fast compared to American's response time to obvious corruption. We've go to get cracking.
