Turns out I actually know one of them...
Edited on Mon Apr-11-11 07:23 AM by Atman
We moved here a few years ago and quickly got to know our new neighbors. Found out early on that he is Republican, and despite the fact that work for the Democrats, we've always gotten along well (basically, we agree not to evangelize). Yesterday we were in the yard and he couldn't help bringing up the budget deal. He seems to like to bring up political stuff at least once in every conversation just to see if he can get me going. He was asking if I still thought Obama had a chance of getting reelected. I responded with a laugh, and said "Someone serious has to run against him first...I mean, it's not anyone is really going to vote for someone like Donald Trump!"

"Well, I sure would," he said.

Oops. I changed the subject back to tree trimming.

3. better start packing
It's one thing to live next to a republican, but an idiot who would vote for a lying, delusional pile of gopher pelts??? That will devalue your home!

4. Two of my husband's coworkers are just quivering in excitement
to caucus for Trump. They think he's a magnificent businessman and will solve all the nation's problems.

5. Republicans love celebrity, yet hate "Hollywood."
How ironic. And typically hypocritical.

6. At first I laughed my ass off about Trump. Then....
I went to a gathering (I know it was a mixed crowd politically, no one ever discusses politics because of that fact). None the less, they could not resist this time, they all love the idea of Trump!

I was the only one there who thought Trump was a silly candidate for R's to run. I was 'way out numbered' and still like these people(misguided tho they may be). I just stopped participating. It was not worth the risk of alienating long time friends.

Trump stands no chance in hell! Why bother.

People have gone crazy me thinks.

7. He's magnificent at staying afloat after 3 bankruptcies. His hotel "empire" is in chapter 11 now.

The only thing he is making money on are his reality TV shows and his endorsement deals. He's got a big mouth and he projects the image of success. But he's far from a "magnificent businessman".

9. Which is what needs to be discussed loudly and repeated everywhere.
I'm sure there is plenty of piles of doodoo this jerk has left around which can be exposed for public viewing.

Lets not forget Marla Maples:

11. He's an obnoxious asshole with one personal and professional
failure after another, many of them played out in public. He's all surface, no depth. What on earth could anyone see as magnificent?

12. You forget that our media and many of our fellow citizens are obsessed
with failed assholes who live out their failure in public and are all surface and no depth. Fame itself gives the sheen of magnificence these days.

24. Trump is actually a horrible businessman.
He bankrupted his company, and is more of a media celebrity. He gives the impression of being smart, yes, but he really isn't.

8. Many of these people felt
that Sarah Palin was a perfectly acceptable candidate. To understand this mindset we must first understand what they believe about Obama. Their impression of Obama is far worse than the truth about Trump.

10. The sad/scary thing is that 1/3 of Americans will vote for the repub
Doesn't matter who they are or how crazy they are. Look at 2008- McCain/Palin got 50 million votes, even though it was clear to anyone who watched the debates and interviews that Gramps was too old for the job and Palin was nuts. Trump wpuld probably carry 5-10 states- Utah, Wyoming, Texas, Tenn., Kentucky, South Carolina, Georgia, Oklahoma, Maybe the Dakotas....

15. Republicans elected an ACTOR.An ACTOR!!
And not even a good actor at that. So what if Trump isn't really a good businessman. He talks loud and appears to have quite the full head of hair.

If he would just go ahead and call Obama a racial epithet he would be a shoe-in.

20. "The Apprentice: US Cabinet" ... it should only take one season to fill his cabinet.
Probably get pretty good tv ratings too.

23. Every week he'd be telling one of his cabinet members 'You're Fired!'
A bit like Maggie Thatcher in the later stages of her career, come to think of it.

19. Take Trump seriously
He's saying things a lot of people on that side of the aisle want to hear and haven't heard from any of the losers who pass as leadership in the GOP. Think Perot, but media-savvy, and this one won't necessarily split the opposition vote.

21. He doesn't really want to win, he's just keeping his name in lights.
He's got a tv show to promote. In order to run for president he'll have to release tax returns and financial information. His utter failure in business -- yes, failure -- will be revealed. His bankruptcies, his bailouts, all of it. That would hamper his negotiating position on future deals. He doesn't want that. He can't take the risk of revealing all and then losing.

What you are forgetting is that Trump is first and foremost a SHOWMAN, not a businessman. It's not about the presidency, it'd about promoting Donald Trump. Remember, he's done this once before.

22. This. He's just pimping his show. Disclosure would show he's not as rich or successful as the image.
He won't get to the point where he'd have to disclose. He'll bow out first.
