TCM is airing *Birth of a Nation* tonight at 8 pm eastern time

1. Watch it. It will be a real eye opener.

Its funny - the movie really spells out the racist fears of White Southerners

Blacks are the evil of all evils - but they're scared of ghosts!

Oh and the worst thing that can happen is a black man TOUCHES a white girl. Oh the HORROR!

I've tried to explain some of the wild racial shit that's gone down in our country. Sounds as if this would help.

5. It would be interesting to also watch "Triumph of the Will"

If you knew absolutely nothing about Adolf Hitler, and all you saw was that movie, you'd probably think Adolf was a stand-up guy

3. I've seen it soup to nuts

We DID have to watch it beginning to end at Niagara in the 1990's. That, Triumph of the Will and I forget the third one that was used as a propaganda tool. Art and History of Film was required for all Mass Comm majors . . . I'm still not sure how I feel about it - much in the same way that I'm not sure how I feel about Reifenstahl's work - but I can still SEE the imagery and cinematography to this day. I.E. Snippets of images and scenes of both films.
