Here's a quaint, novel idea about how to maybe counteract the greed and power etc....
Having spent a great deal of time wondering just what other POSSIBLE angles we might want to consider/approach (aside from violence) with regard to all of the greed and corruption and power and crap currently going down with this country and (some of...not all) the folks no doubt involved in it...it all of a sudden occurred to me - you know what? They are acting just like a bunch of spoiled kids!

Spoiled, rotten kids!

Mine. mine. mine. Nope. I don't wanna share. I want it all to myself. The whole pie. Each slice. Each and every crumb! Get away - get away - Mine, mine, mine...ALL mine.

Know what the remedy for that is? For them to feel ashamed of themselves.

A wag of the finger. A tisk-tisk cross of the fingers indicating "shame on you...US".

See - it's not enough that folks here try to make them feel ashamed. Oh no. That hasn't worked at all. Quite the contrary!

Countries have egos and we need outside influences to hold up a mirror!

My sense is that only when 'other countries' will be able to chime in (point their finger) and say....Geesh - look at the US? At one point they WERE #1....but just look at them now? (snicker - snicker). Look at their standards NOW as compared with the rest of the world with regard to education, health care, the middle class, poverty etc...The US is a fricking joke alright!!!

See, to me - that may just well be the ticket!

Now grant it - I am usually NEVER FOR pulling the shame card out...EVER (because it cuts so deep...)but ya know somthin' what? - in this day and age and the circumstances that we face....it just may be a damned good friggin' idea!!!!!!!

Just SHAME on this country and its corrupt leaders into doing right....before it becomes a laughing stock to the rest of the world!

Oh yeah....our countries 'ego' may just be the ticket here! As reflected by the rest of the world ~

I swear ya'll...I am really grasping at straws here....Somethin' NEEDS to change short of violence!!!!!!!!!

Can I get a witness and any ideas as to how to accomplish this feat?

1. Before it becomes a laughing stock to the rest of the world?....
It already is in much of the world.

You are correct. Shame on our government and on every greedy person who lives here too! Shame on them all!

2. The news barely mentions International events. Would the US notice?

3. I dunno......
But - you're right. The news (even PBS now with all of their US corporate sponsors) barely touch on the subject...International news as far as that goes....though I do think that Ray Suarez (spelling) on PBS might possibly come on board with this as he has done something similar in the past....

Sad, so sad that Bill Moyers got cancelled...though I think that one of the correspondents....who was she? Maria Hinajosa really honed in and nailed a project or two here and there - bar none ~ ?

On another angle.....Maybe this is something that Colbert.pac could illuminate to the masses?

I'm just damn near ready to consider ANYTHING at this point!!!!!!!!! (aside from violence!)

Current TV seems to be doing (and gaining) some real widespread recognition in some respects - along these lines - but of course, if you go to their website - they have a whole bunch of big corporate sponsorships just waiting on the fringe ~ so like - just HOW objective can they be????

Who knows? Maybe it might all come down to some film-maker? Michael Moore...Oliver Stone...Quinton Tarrantino? To kind of shake things things up????

Seems to be maybe one of the last vestiges available along these lines???

Maybe - who knows - maybe fodder for some kind of new "reality series" of some sort....(when in Rome....) Like - Just how dumb and greedy are some American Politicians and corporate officials????"

Place your wager............

4. One flaw in your plan
These people HAVE no shame. No regrets, no conscience, no basic human dignity.

Even if the WHOLE WORLD laughed and pointed fingers at them, they'd take it as reinforcement that they're "mavericks" who have all the bold ideas and the only way they can fail is if their plans weren't implemented COMPLETELY.

We're dealing with PURE ideologues here. They don't give a shit about mere consequences, only "RESULTS", based on their own twisted criteria.

5. They don't feel shame
Edited on Mon Apr-11-11 08:56 PM by MedleyMisty
They're psychopaths. They don't feel shame or empathy or anything human. People chanted "Shame!" in Wisconsin. They walked right past and didn't care, because they don't feel emotions like you and me.

BTW, this means that when we do go out in the streets in large enough numbers to do anything we are most likely going to have some casualties. A Republican official did comment that the Wisconsin capitol should be cleared with live ammunition. He lost his job, IIRC, but still - don't think they aren't thinking about it or that they are not more than willing to do it.

6. So like - OK
I get what the last two posters talked about, and you're proabably right ~ (my heart is sinking here...)

So like - tell me this...I'm no historian by any means....is there not some kind of example from history that we can learn about this behavior that might possibly turn this around?

Yep. I've seen some of these corporate bastards that have got caught and just got a slap on the wrist...and instead of feeling ashamed...it was almost some sort of fricking BRAG about it in a way...like - look at me - just another notch that the government or whomever tried to take me down - ha ha ha...as if it is almost something to be proud of...you know?

Is there really NO WAY to reach these people???

It really fricking just boggles my mind!

When I ask...have they no conscience...and the answer is...no. What then?

What...then?...........

7. Make them. Confiscate their property and appropriate means of production.
They don't respond to anything else. They have no subjects or voters to turn. They have no conscience to burn. They have no loyalty to call on.

We are talking money and resource control now. Play time is over.

shame and accusations of hypocrisy do not stick anymore... but competition does. Most importantly though is the wallet!

9. Well...for one thing -
I have moved my money:

http://moveyourmoneyproject.org/

What used to be my money in the hands of Wachovia - now Wells Fargo is gone and I have since shifted to a regional bank and have never been happier.

They...appreciate my business and bucks and it's nice to walk into a bank where they recognize me and greet me by name and appreciate my business!

So....I guess...there's that ~
