The Guy Who Says He Owns 50% Of Facebook Just Filed A Boatload Of New Evidence -- It's Breathtaking

Remember Paul Ceglia?

He's the fellow in upstate New York who sued Mark Zuckerberg last July, claiming that, way back in 2003, Zuckerberg had agreed to give him a 50% ownership in the project that became Facebook.

That claim seemed preposterous at the time, not least because Ceglia had waited 7 years to file it.
...

Ceglia has produced more than a dozen of what he says are emails between him and Mark Zuckerberg from July 2003 to July 2004, the year in which Facebook was created.

In these purported emails, which we have included below, Zuckerberg and Ceglia discuss "the face book" project in detail. They discuss how Ceglia will fund the project. They discuss how Ceglia has funded the project (proof of payment). They discuss how Zuckerberg has met some upperclassmen--the Winklevosses, presumably--who are pursuing a similar project, and how Zuckerberg is "stalling" them. They discuss how Zuckerberg has failed to complete the "face book" project on time. They discuss the launch of the face book, which Ceglia agrees looks great...

Check out the entire article - if true, it's pretty damning evidence. Here's one of the emails from Mark:

"I am really sorry I behaved as I did. Please give me your address and I will mail you back the $2000 for your trouble, more if it will repair our business relationship. Another summer is here and I still don't have any time to build our site, I understand that I promised I would, but other things have come up and I am out in California working during break."

Oh, and at the time of that email, Zuckerberg was one week from incorporating Facebook in Delaware.

2. The upperclassmen just tried to appeal the deal they made with Mark--
for 65 million, arguing that they'd been duped into taking that deal and ought to have gotten a lot more. Alas for them, the court just refused to let them off the hook. They can't re-sue for more. Story on that here:

7. $165 million here, $165 million there
I thought I read that the current value of the stock had upped the settlement to effectively $165 million.

All three of them seem like such creeps. Is it a rule that only creeps have zillions?

3. That's a given
Good old Markie did steal the idea from the Winkelvosses (sp). It's clear from the movie.

5. Is that sarcasm?
Movies are not facts. Unless they are of events in real time.

8. Here's my question--How easy is it to fake date and "sent by" info on emails?
I honestly don't know. But let's face it, these emails aren't like letters written in the person's own hand, on his personal stationary with his signature and royal seal. They aren't videotapes of the two discussing the issue with a calendar and daily newspaper near by to establish the date.

I've never tried to fake an email myself so I don't know. How can it be verified that a certain person, from a certain computer at a certain time wrote and sent them?

12. The emails themselves won't be worth anything. However they will have headers
which if they have server backups that correspond to them, they will know they are legit.
