1. Is what the Republicans plan to do to this country
serious,
or are they just playing?

Because that's a much more important question to answer in my book....

4. Oh, they're serious all right.
I wish I could be as confident about our President.

10. I believe they are dead serious
but will Obama hinder or help their agenda? When the president adopts their ideologies and frames he invites mistrust. Obama is only better than republicans in the measure that he opposes them.

12. Obama can only lead, if folks are willing to follow......
Edited on Wed Apr-13-11 03:42 PM by FrenchieCat
so the next question is what are you going to do to show support for those
things he articulated....?

since after all, the House is Republican, and Lord knows that there are still enough
corporate Democrats sitting in the Senate. I believe that it will take a lot of voices coming
out for the President on these particular issues to get it done....

so the question becomes how serious are we in getting her done...?
Are we going to get serious in our activism, or are we just ready to go back to what some have been doing for going on two years now, analyzing and being critical of the one man who stands between us
and the fucked-up selfish-ass power-hungry "will show no mercy" Republicans.

What will we be most passionate about?
It is our choice, at this point,
and it is also the key of what will happen....
because one man alone can't do it all by his lonesome
while folks throw rocks. It is after-all our future at stake.

13. We can only follow if Obama leads
Fine speech aside, my support will match his commitment. He needs to replace kumbaya with a war song. On one hand it's "fear the insane republicans" and on the other it's "compromise and bipartisanship are good for the country". As soon as he figures out which side he's on, I'll rejoin the battle.

5. His first re-election campaign speech and it means as much as his 2008 election speeches

But, his speech writers wrote a good speech and Obama's performance in delivering it was good.

21. I beg to differ...
we began a game that we never got to finish.

BTW, in terms of movie gaffes, have you ever counted the number of shots that Curly Bill fired before he killed Fred White? I lose track at 24.

7. Translation
Edited on Wed Apr-13-11 03:34 PM by ProSense
"A genuine commitment to preserve and strengthen our social safety net"

Translation: The speech was really good.

"Pre-election red meat meant to mollify a bewildered and disillusioned base"

Translation: The speech was really good, but it must be cast in a negative light.

Summary: It was a really good speech.

On edit: Either way it works.
