Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) took to Twitter Wednesday to stick up for President Obama's deficit reduction speech, quipping about the 2009 "you lie" incident during the president's speech to Congress.

Weiner — a liberal firebrand — tweeted, "Somewhere Joe Wilson is yelling 'You Lie!' over and over at his TV. President is doing great setting the debate."

The congressman referred to Wilson's outburst on the House floor two years ago in reaction to Obama's claim that his healthcare reform law would not apply to illegal immigrants.

"A long overdue explanation of why government exists. Why Americans are Progressives," he tweeted.
