.... today on the Fred Dicker radio show, Trump boasted of his relationship with the black community in a particularly, well, blunt way.

"I have a great relationship with the blacks,” Trump said. “I've always had a great relationship with the blacks.”

Referring to poll numbers that show enduringly high support for President Barack Obama among black voters, Trump pointed to race as a reason that he – like Hillary Clinton before him– would be unable to capture more African-American support.

“Unfortunately, it seems that, you know, the numbers you cite are very, very frightening numbers," he said.

And some of his best friends I bet are blacks if you ask him! And I also bet he thinks some of his best servants are "the blacks". But he thinks the high amount of support among Black people for Obama is "very, very frightening"!!! Why is that?

If you're trying to burnish your racial bona fides you probably want somebody other than Pat Buchanan sanding down your rough edges for you.

After setting self-awareness aside this week and telling the world "I've always had a great relationships with the blacks. Some of my best friends are blacks," GOP presidential hopeful Donald Trump found himself in the hot seat with the media.

Today on MSNBC, Pat Buchanan leaped to his defense.

"I don't find any malice in what he said in that statement about the black folks," Buchanan said. "I'm a Catholic, and if he said I have a great relationship with the Catholics, I don't think I'd take great offense."
