Mr. Walker Goes to Washington & Gets OWNED By Dennis Kucinich
Edited on Thu Apr-14-11 07:48 PM by kpete
Mr. Walker Goes to Washington

by John Cole

And gets owned by Dennis Kucinich:

KUCINICH: Let me ask you about some of the specific provisions in your proposals to strip collective bargaining rights. First, your proposal would require unions to hold annual votes to continue representing their own members. Can you please explain to me and members of this committee how much money this provision saves for your state budget?

WALKER: That and a number of other provisions we put in because if you’re going to ask, if you’re going to put in place a change like that, we wanted to make sure we protected the workers of our state, so they got value out of that.

KUCINICH: Would you answer the question? How much money does it save, Governor?

WALKER: It doesn’t save any.

.................

Walker’s admission is crucial because he had long claimed that his anti-union “budget repair bill” was designed to save the state money, not bust unions. But his words today echo those of Wisconsin state senate leader Scott Fitzgerald (R), who last month effectively admitted that the union fights are not about budgetary issues, but rather about winning the next election by depleting the ranks of organized labor.

11. For the life of me, I cannot understand how any Democrat can dislike Rep. Kucinich.
The guy is the epitome a straight up radical FDR type Democrat and democrat. Sometimes I wonder how the Kucinich bashers here at DU and I belong to the same party. We apparently don't share the same values or ideology. I really don't get it.

This, from the OP, is full on totally awesome:

Thanks, kpete, your informative posts are a DU treasure.

15. Standing UP for traditional "Democratic" values....
...makes the "Centrists" look bad.

Paul Wellstone used to do the same thing,
and look what they did to him.

"There are forces within the Democratic Party who want us to sound like kinder, gentler Republicans.
I want a party that will stand up for working Americans."
---Paul Wellstone

"By their works you will know them."

16. i went from finding dennis interesting to annoying in 2004
when the election was stolen primarily in his district, and he didn't do squat. he didn't even issue a statement till a week later. i don't think he even showed up at conyer's hearing.

Kerry was supposed to take leadership on this matter. Dodd advised/pressured him to gracefully concede the election to Bush.

If Kerry was going to bail out on the stolen election, meaning challenging Ohio results as well as other states, I can see why Kucinich did a no-show, although I too was confused and disappointed.

Having said that, isn't it interesting that Conyers completely dropped his investigation/impeachment hearings when the Dems took back the house in 2008?

Nary a word from that Congressman when the Dems took control. I'm aware of certain investigations matters over corruption charges into Conyers office which might have impacted his decisions.

These Congress Critters can certainly be bewildering. Now, I just suspect most are corrupted or corruptible and therefore easily threatened/intimidated by PTB (the nameless/faceless PTB) and eventually do a 180 on their promises or stated principles.

It sucks..

But I still consider Kucinich to be heroic and courageous most of the time.

18. Well, if you're a sell-out Blue Dog, he makes you look bad. He shows "pragmatism" for what it is-
a betrayal of humanist & progressive values. Sell-outs HATE that.
