Yah, but he seems to have no hesitation about trying to manipulate people or otherwise behave
unethically. I wonder if he feels fear or empathy for others.

8. Still though, isn't it a bit dirty for a politician to try to scare impressionable people with birth
certificate conspiracy nonsense? Even for a politician I just think that's pretty low.

13. If you read up on right wing authoritarianism people high on this scale tend to think it's okay to
Edited on Sun Apr-17-11 06:54 PM by franzia99
exploit "idiots." A lot of republicans are high in right wing authoritarianism.

I think it's pretty disgusting. To the extent that someone is an "idiot" it probably isn't their fault and they don't deserve to be duped by sh*tbags.

2. I think he's a narcissist, not a sociopath.
Wiki sayeth of NPD:

A pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behavior), need for admiration, and lack of empathy, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts, as indicated by five (or more) of the following:

Has a grandiose sense of self-importance (e.g., exaggerates achievements and talents, expects to be recognized as superior without commensurate achievements)

Is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love

Believes that he or she is "special" and unique and can only be understood by, or should associate with, other special or high-status people (or institutions)

Requires excessive admiration

Has a sense of entitlement, i.e., unreasonable expectations of especially favorable treatment or automatic compliance with his or her expectations

Is interpersonally exploitative, i.e., takes advantage of others to achieve his or her own ends

Lacks empathy: is unwilling to recognize or identify with the feelings and needs of others

Is often envious of others or believes others are envious of him or her

Shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes

Often mild to moderate paranoia, that others are out to do him in.

Predominant "name dropper" boasting or suggestion association with people or affiliations of importance.

7. Ah, thanks for posting this. I hadn't really considered whether he's a narcissist.
That sounds like it could be him. So many possible mental disorders that Trump could have.

19. is it narcissism when you ARE one of the most famous people in the world?
I don't like the guy, either, but like some old football coach said, "you ain't bragging if it's true."

25. I've seen some psychologists argue that sociopathy is a severe manifestation of narcissism.
Edited on Sun Apr-17-11 07:51 PM by themadstork
Though I think it (sociopathy) is more likely to be a nasty blend of several of the axis-II cluster-b disorders.

30. Me too
Short of actually being clinical sociopaths, I can't really comprehend how our super-rich act like they do toward the rest of the country. Do they not feel guilty? How do they justify it?

With an ego the size of China.. he isn't going to run, and if he does he certainly isn't going to win. He is just in this for attention, that's it.

20. A narcissistic d'bag who has daddy issues
because he inherited originally. Trump has doubts that he could've gotten it on his own so he compensates with a bloated ego, anyway that's my guess.

This idiot is just a self-absorbed Buffoon, who must've been behind the door when they passed out the charm gene. And BTW, I'm not a psychologist, but I'm Jewish and Mom was a psychiatric nurse. Does that count?

And she seemed to sincerely think he was something like a sociopath. Claimed he had no soul and no concern at all for other people.

I'm hoping to met him sometime. I wonder if I could get him to punch me. I could pull an OKeefe and wear a spy cam thingymajig!

part of the marketing over the years. Right now he is being a GOP politician. So that is why he has resorted to lying and misleading people..because that is how the GOP roll. I don't think Trump is a narcissist. I've had dealings with a real one and trump is not that sick.
