1. I don't get it. I recall a conversation with a co worker several years back
where he commented that dogs were a food source, not pets.
He was a Cambodian refugee and did not like a friends dog continually coming up to him, wagging it's tail, licking him, wanting to play.

Different cultures, I guess...I don't get it.

3. Some of my in-laws sometimes have pet chickens.

2. I wonder what would happen if people tried to stop animals going to slaughter houses here in the US.
I imagine they would be arrested and made an example of.

5. you better believe it!
except some of these dogs still had bells and tags. SO...if you want to look at the dogs as food....well, here in the west a man can still get hanged for stealing cattle!

6. The stealing of pets definitely adds a layer of meanness to the story not usually found
in the US meat industry.

7. yeah.... makes it much nastier.
It hurts to lose a pet...so it is causing misery on top of killing a pet. The article said they do the same with cats! (find truckloads of them!)
