Conservative "Coming out" week

So the oppressed conservatives are coming out in full force on campus this week. Received this email yesterday

The ISU College Republicans have been hosting a Conservative Coming Out Week this entire week on campus. Our intentions are to let students realize they are not the only conservative person on campus, even though it may seem like it at times. So feel free to stop by anytime throughout the week and proclaim your conservative values.

We've been having events throughout the week and will be having a Bar-B-Que stationed outside the Library today (Thursday) from 11:00-2:00. We will be having pulled pork sandwiches, chips, cookies, and a drink for sale.

Friday we will be honoring the patriots of this great country; including our troops, the ROTC students on campus, as well as a few of the patriots of the conservative movement. We will be on campus, outside the library from 11:00-2:00, collecting donations to send to our troops serving overseas as well. So please stop by and donate anything you are able, because these men and women overseas are sacrificing a lot for us to enjoy our freedoms and they greatly deserve everything we are able to send.

Idk, let's think about that for just a minute. I think the republican ideology is pretty much trying to prevent the future deterioration of our country's financial situation by preventing the democrats from continued spending of our hard earned tax dollars on corrupt programs such as welfare for nearly anyone who so desires it.
Let's spread the word.

So welfare is corrupt now, and is responsible for the deterioration of the nation?
While three wars rage unchecked, and banksters rig the system and destroy lives? The airwaves are polluted with right-wing propaganda, corporate welfare is rampant yet jobs are nonexistent and they blame the left for deterioration?

What the hell are conservative values anyway? Greed, war and fuck the poor? All tucked nicely under the facade of Christi-insanity.

My mother received welfare for many years while raising four children, AND working (barely surviving.) She used it to feed us and to give her breathing room to make ends meet. She used it until she didn't need it and we made it through, because the system did work, and it does for many, many people. These people are "concerned" about corruption? It's laughable, bizarro shit. Fuck conservatism.

2. I've seen them all week

It always seems to be the same four people at their little table shouting talking points into a bullhorn.

I also found it somewhat funny that in their schedule for the week printed in the Daily that one of their days was called "Re-Education" day.

Yesterday they had a white flag with a blue "W" in the middle (think like what they fly over Wrigley Field after Cubs victories) along with the Gadsden Flag that the 'baggers have hijacked and I couldn't help but think that if I was a Cubs fan I would have been greatly insulted.

A University of Iowa professor felt the need to reply to a blast email by the College Republicans on Monday morning. Ellen Lewin, a professor of Anthropology and Gender, Women’s & Sexuality Studies in the Department of Gender, Women’s & Sexuality Studies, sent a vulgar response to a College Republican email about the group’s, “Conservative Coming Out Week.”

The College Republican email, which was sent to the entire University of Iowa Community, had been approved by a number of university officials before being sent out.

Lewin responded to email by writing, “#*@% YOU, REPUBLICANS” from her official university email account.

You can remove it, but if you don't manually delete it it will automatically show up. Lots of reasons this person is a smug asshole but that is not one of them.
