Santorum: Gays already have enough rights
Source: Fox News via Raw Story

Likely Republican presidential candidate and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum told Fox News' Chris Wallace Sunday that LGBT people don't deserve equal rights.

"You opposed gay marriage," Wallace noted.

"I did," Santorum agreed.

"You oppose civil unions, you want to reinstate 'don't ask, don't tell.' Do you think gays have any rights, should have any access to benefits as partners?" Wallace asked.

"Well, sure. I mean there are all sorts of contractual benefits that anybody can contract for. But the question is whether we should institutionalize that in public policy? My feeling is that people can live their lives however they want to live it," Santorum explained.

1. NOBODY In this country has enough rights
Things were bad enough before, but now, even the ones we had are being taken away by hook or crook, one bad precedent at a time.

As for the homophobic, they will get theirs soon. Taken away, I mean.

6. Corporations have enough rights.
In my view, they have too many. More than flesh & blood people.

8. Corporations Have Way Too Many Rights
They should have none outside of contract law. Rights are for people.

4. This is excellent. He's saying gay people don't deserve equal protection under the law. He's so
wrong that he's actually arguing against himself.

11. Stupid
"enough rights" would be when LGBT have all of the same rights and privileges as everybody else. Who's holding that up? Santorum, et. al of course. As a matter of fact, they want to see all THOSE rights be rolled back to nothing (not going to happen but they're not going to make it easy to advance).

12. What a dimwit
There was a time not so long ago when people who said things like this were institutionalized and given therapy and medication to alleviate their delusions. I wonder if it occurs to Rick that the same things he so blithely endorses for other citizens for no good reason could be visited on him, and how would he like that? But that would require something called empathy or compassion, and since he's a Republican, that's not in his nature. Born that way, you know.

16. Santorum suffers from deep homophobia, probably due to the fact that he has been closeted all of
these years, forcing himself to father children and trying hard to believe in a form of Christianity that will allow his real hidden self (the closeted gay man) to live within the world of those who choose to be heterosexual and Christian. I don't believe that all men that hate gay people suffer from this malady, but I do believe Santorum does. Why else, would a "straight" man, be so focused on people who were born gay and impact his life in no way at all? I'm just waiting for his "wide spread" moment at an airport near you to shed some sunlight on this poor, sickened, closeted soul or maybe on Fathers day, at sometime in the future, he will allegedly be hiking the Appalachian Trail, while flying off to meet his true love, Jose, down in Argentina. I wish them both the best.
Lou
