Being played again
Trump: Karl Rove Is a "Loser" Who Should Retire

Donald Trump clearly has no intention of buddying up with the Republican establishment. With his popularity ranking the highest among Republican presidential hopefuls in a recent Gallup poll, the New York real estate tycoon on Friday took a big swipe at GOP political mastermind Karl Rove, calling Rove "a loser" and suggesting he "go into retirement where he belongs."

-snip-

Trump's remarks come in response to a recent comment of Rove's dismissing Trump's 2012 candidacy. "His full embrace of the birther issue means that he's off there in the nutty right and is now an inconsequential candidate," Rove recently said. For those who haven't followed Trump lately, he has made the non-issue of President Barack Obama's citizenship a centerpiece of his would-be campaign, going so far as to send private investigators to Hawaii to find the "truth."

We are being played again with a pretend pissing contest between two irrelevant political figures. Knowing Rove's propensity to offer a fascade, a fake-out to make us look the other way, I wouldn't put it past Rove and Trump to agree to pretend they're adversaries. Trump doesn't care as long as his name is circulated in the media that day. Rove isn't threatened at all by Trump because he knows that Trump isn't running for office in 2012. What does Rove get out of this? The illusion that he's still a king-maker in the republican party by filtering out the "non-believers".

1. perhaps.... could it be?

the Rovian twist might be for Trump's 'investigators' to be satisfied with proof of O's legitimacy; Trump withdraws (as we're sure he will), and the press goes wild with 24/7 coverage. Then other non-issues will be 'trumped-up' (sorry) to distract. Keeping the crazy as fluid as possible is Rove's trademark.

3. You've captured Rove's modus operandi quite well.
