Statewide Recount Information
The JoAnne Kloppenburg campaign has requested a statewide recount of votes in the April 5 Wisconsin Supreme Court election.

The Government Accountability Board, represented by the Wisconsin Department of Justice, filed a legal action in Dane County Circuit Court Thursday to establish the ground rules for Optech Eagle tabulating equipment used in the statewide recount of votes in the Wisconsin Supreme Court election. Attorneys for the G.A.B. and the candidates reached a stipulated agreement to hand-count ballots in parts of 31 counties that use Optech Eagle scanners.

Board staff will hold a teleconference for County Clerks at 1:30 p.m. Monday,

which will be broadcast live on Wisconsin Eye.

The Board anticipates issuing an order on Monday, April 25, for a statewide recount to begin on Wednesday, April 27.

In Minnesota, they certainly are. As they should be, of course.

3. Board members are invited. I assume but do not

know for sure, that both Dems and Repubs are included in board members. Lots of procedures here (meant for cty clerks).

5. Yes, each campaign can have as many observers as they choose.

Those observers will designate a spokesperson who will be the one who can interact with the Board of Canvassers, but observers can interact with the tabulators and review each document (poll books, absentee envelope, ballot, etc). All observers will have a direct phone # to an attorney in case shenanigans are spotted.

4. Over 78% of votes are scanned on election night and most use the machines

that the GAB has stated have no additional memory cards. All of those votes will be counted by hand, as recommended by GAB and confirmed by the court. And in the few cases where they will be re-scanned, observers will examine each ballot and manual counting will happen while scan is happening.
