Week checked out William's bride's dress.

I thought it was very nice.

boring strapless gowns of the past decade.

And I enjoyed looking at all the silly hats, too.

6. There were a lot of strange hats and hers was up there
among the strangest!

I admire the women for being brave enough to wear them, though , whatever I think of them.

7. I'm so tired of those strapless wedding gowns
Maybe now they'll finally go out of fashion. They look more like prom dresses than wedding dresses.

9. Yes, they look like prom dresses. But they've been about 95%
of the market. My daughter really had to look hard to find something else. She ended up with an A-line with cap sleeves, a sweetheart neckline, and a lace over the whole dress. It looked much more like it belonged in a church wedding than in a ballroom.

:)

11. What is really sad
is they sell these dresses to women who really cannot pull off "strapless", but it appears there are few choices for them. I'm so glad your daughter found an alternative to the strapless. Her dress sounds beautiful.

I'm sure we aren't alone in our perspective on this. My daughter is the one who said these dresses look like prom dresses. She dislikes them as well. Also, they all look the same! Who wants to look like every other bride in the world?

16. the only other choice sometimes...
is to make your own dress...

which I did for my second marriage.

A champagne colored, brocaded satin Victorian style with pintucks and ecru lace, pearl buttons, and high waist.

I was so proud of it.... :)

19. That sounds gorgeous
I think what bothers me is the conformity in today's weddings. If you're going to have a wedding just like all your friends, you might as well save the money and elope. All that money would make a good down payment on a house.

26. Another good thing about today's wedding is it wasn't at night.
When did everybody start wanting evening weddings? Fortunately, my daughter didn't -- and a noon wedding saved us a lot of money on the reception.

32. Yuk! Yes, I've been invited to one of those, too.
I think they must think it's a more sophisticated look. To me it just doesn't look like a wedding. More like a nightclub.

it has a ballgown skirt or mermaid.

Boring!

10. Some designer pointed out that having her maid of honor
also dressed in ivory, carrying the train, made the two of them almost appear as one, in the midst of that huge cathedral. Quite pretty.

15. I loved the Maid of Honor dress
It was so simple and elegant.

As for Diana's dress, I couldn't see what people loved about it. Poor Diana was all fabric. She looked like was drowning in it.

22. A meringue on steroids
"One should wear the dress, dear, not the other way around."

Well, it was the eighties -- can't have too much of everything.

Glad to hear that I'm not the only one who loathes those strapless wedding gowns - tacky comes to mind.

23. Ah, perfect description
I guess in the eighties, you couldn't have too much of anything, from hair spray to fabric!

No, you definitely aren't alone. Hopefully now the designers of wedding dresses will get a clue.

14. I actually couldn't wait to see the dress....
It was beautiful. So classy.

Unlike Diana's, which I thought was the ugliest dress on the face of the earth. Seriously. I felt...and still do...that the person who designed that monstrosity should have been shot.

Kate's dress...simply lovely :)

17. She looked gorgeous.
It was a look that was classy yet understated. The veil, tiera and dress, while all amazing, did not distract the eye from Catherine's natural beauty. I wish this young couple a very happy future together.

They fled to France. Got booted out of France and went back to England. England told them to GTFO so they ended up in America.

I loved watching the wedding today:
