"Social Network". So what???
Wow...a movie that felt like it went on forever focused on characters that were just plain unlikeable! Watching this movie (DVD rental, Netflix) made me happy that I left Facebook a year ago!

So far, we've just not been blown away yet by any of the Oscar best picture nominated films we've seen....Inception (didn't make it through the first 30 min), Kids are Alright (some just awful overacting, tried so hard that is utterly failed for us), Winter's Bone (actress was superb, but so, so dark and depressing), and this mess - Social Network. - best so far to our taste - Toy Story 3 (we really liked it, but it is not best picture material), King's Speech (just missed greatness for us). We've not seen the others yet.

1. You have to stick with Inception
It does get better.

2. Just not my genre. My daughter loved it...
quite a polarizing film (read lots of reviews on imdb) - people loved it (most) or hated it (fewer).

3. I agree about Social Network and I watched it free on Justin.tv.
I saw Inception at the theater and was dying to have the movie end (when I'm looking at my watch during a movie it's not a good sign for me).

Winter's Bone: absolutely dark and depressing and I don't watch movies for dark and depressing.

I did enjoy Toy Story 3, but a lot of that was because of the ending.

4. I loved Winter's Bone - a lot.
You are the second person here who said it was just too dark, but I found it fascinating and a testament to the strength of people, particularly women. All the others are on my list, but the only one I have see is Toy Story III

:hi:

5. Yeah, I understand...I have a feeling it was just the mood we were in the night we watched it.
Certainly a high quality movie, that's for sure.

6. SN, felt it was over rated...
not a bad movie, but I felt it didn't deserve the accolades it's been getting.

Winter's Bone is raw and real. Maybe Hollywood can't handle gritty reality.

Inception has my vote
