— and Caitlyn Jenner's recall hopes sink

Conservative critics of California Gov. Gavin Newsom seem to have made a serious miscalculation by seeking to recall and replace him this fall, new data suggests.

Three months ago, a plurality of registered California voters (48 percent) disapproved of the job the Democratic governor was doing, according to a poll conducted by the Institute of Governmental Studies at the University of California, Berkeley. Just 46 percent approved. The official recall campaign, which had launched a year earlier but only recently gained momentum, appeared to have a real (if still remote) chance of success.

But something else was happening three months ago as well: California was just coming off perhaps the scariest COVID-19 surge in America, averaging more than 500 deaths every day after enduring roughly 40,000 cases per day since Christmas.

Republican anger with Fauci reaches new heights - AOL via Yahoo News

Republican rage directed at Dr. Anthony Fauci, the chief medical adviser on the coronavirus pandemic to Presidents Trump and Biden, seemed to reach new heights over the weekend, with former Trump administration trade adviser Peter Navarro claiming the renowned physician and scientist has likely "killed millions of Americans."

"For whatever reasons, Fauci wanted to weaponize that virus, and he is the father of it. He has killed millions of Americans if that thing came from the lab. Now it's 99.999 percent sure it did," Navarro told former Trump White House strategist Steve Bannon regarding an unproven theory that the coronavirus originated in a lab in Wuhan, China, that had received funds from the National Institutes of Health, where Fauci is director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

For the better part of the past year, every time Fauci speaks on the pandemic, some Republicans take to social media to decry him. On Sunday, Fauci's appearance on NBC's "Meet the Press" sparked just such a reaction. Asked if Americans might need to wear masks seasonally to prevent the continued spread of COVID-19, Fauci responded, "You know, that's quite possible."

Do you know how exhausting it is to read the news and consistently feel like you've entered a parallel universe where the lowest common denominator gets all the attention, says the dumbest things sans evidence, then gets lapped up by the masses like it were super charged sugar water?

I can understand the outrage fatigue this side would have because of these people. And Kelli Ward opened her vapid, empty mouth to "fart" out a turd of wisdom too. And she's running to replace term limited Governor Ice Cream Flinger. But my state has Paul Goser and my soon to be opponent, the odious Joel John. . .the Republican barrel literally has no bottom.

An Arizona GOP official made unverified claims that COVID vaccine turns people into 'potted plants'

A GOP official peddled unverified claims that COVID jabs were turning people into "potted plants."

Jim O'Connor is an elected Republican official in charge of power and water companies in Arizona.

He was attempting to convince company leaders to not impose COVID jab requirements on their workers.

An elected GOP official in Arizona is peddling a false claim that the COVID vaccine not only causes death but turns those who receive the jab into "potted plants."

Jim O'Connor - a state corporation commissioner who was elected in November to oversee companies in charge of utilities like electricity and water - claimed in an interview with local news outlet the Arizona Republic on Saturday that the government was hiding numbers of vaccine-related deaths and serious side effects.

"I'm also aware through other information that many people who have taken the shot, many thousands of people here in the US, are deceased. And the deceased part is the good news. And please don't take that out of context," O'Connor told Ryan Randazzo of the Arizona Republic.

Arizona 'biased teaching' bill would fine teachers for discussion of controversial issues

Arizona teachers could face a $5,000 penalty if they allow classroom discussions on controversial topics such as racism or fail to give equal weight to divisive topics, under provisions of a last-minute amendment that flew through the Arizona House of Representatives on Wednesday.

The changes to Senate Bill 1532 are intended to ensure students aren't taught that their race, ethnicity or sex determines their character, Rep. Michelle Udall R-Mesa, said of the amendment she introduced.

But Democrats denounced it as an overreach into the classroom and said it was a thinly veiled attempt to stir up public discord about critical race theory and further deepen partisan divides in Arizona.

And the odious man I am running against, who claims to be a certified teacher, voted FOR this. It's a 2021 version of the Scopes Monkey Law.

Unpopular opinion: It always bothers me when people say "rule of law" and "the law is the law"

Law making has always been abused by those who scream the loudest to follow it.

Look at laws we have had in this country that law enforcement has blindly and robotically followed by saying "I'm just doing my job," "I'm just following orders," or "Talk to your Congressman, not me” as if turning off your humanity is a logical defense:

Laws preventing women from voting
Laws enabling slavery
Indian Removal Act
Slave codes to control the conduct of a slave
Fugitive Slave Law
Black Codes
Poll Tax
Jim Crow laws
Separate but equal laws
Chinese Exclusion Act
Asia Act - expanding the Chinese Exclusion Act to all Asians in 1924
Redlining Codes
Laws where you were old enough to kill but not to vote (Vietnam and 18-20 year olds)
Anti-miscegenation laws that would make my marriage illegal in 37 states before 1967
Anti-sodomy laws designed to make homosexual acts illegal
Anti-gay marriage laws
Anti Right to Die laws (dogs can be given a painless, merciful death, but humans need to suffer right to the end)
Pro-hanger for abortion laws
Outlawing obscenity laws (as Lenny Bruce said, if you outlaw the "F" word, you outlaw the ability to say "F the Government."
Civil Forfeiture laws
Qualified Immunity laws
Removal of civil rights laws for felons
Credit rating applying to car insurance premiums laws
USA PATRIOT Act (that was supposed to be temporary)

In colonial times, in Maryland, you could be arrested and executed if you didn't worship Jesus in some way or another.
In the Bay Colony, you could lose everything if you didn't follow the theocratic laws.

Laws are about control. Who is getting controlled and who is doing the controlling? Usually, it's white, christian, heterosexual men who try to control everyone (and have your centuries). Now that non-white, non-Christian, non-male, and non-straight are gaining social, political, and economic power, there is an insane pushback.

Gandhi said it best: First they ignore you. Then they laugh at you. Then they fight you. Then you win. We are now at stage three.

And all these voting restriction laws, these are a problem looking for a solution because the Republicans LOST in the election.

Law making is a process that is abused by those with a hidden agenda.
