Chinese county bans schoolchildren from mosques

Authorities in a Muslim-majority county in northwest China have banned schoolchildren from going to mosques during their winter holidays, a state-run daily reported Friday, the latest tightening of regulations on religious freedoms.

The decision was outlined in a notice sent to all high schools, primary schools and kindergartens in Gansu province’s Guanghe county, according to the Global Times.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been forced to defend his elder son, Yair, and his own reputation, after a 2015 secret recording from outside a strip club featuring a conversation between Yair and two friends aired on Israel's Channel 2 on Monday night.

The wide-ranging conversation between the three men touched on subjects ranging from recent government business to prostitutes.

A powerful oil trading family used first daughter Ivanka Trump's defunct jewelry business to conceal roughly $100 million it owed to the Commercial Bank of Dubai, GQ pointed out Friday, citing a June filing at the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.

The Commercial Bank of Dubai received permission to subpoena Trump's old jewelry line after the Al Saris, an Emirati family, allegedly borrowed from the bank and neglected to pay them back.

The Al Sari family is being accused of concealing their money through the purchase of diamonds from Trump's business, a company to which she had licensed her name. The family also reportedly purchased diamonds from Jacob Arabo, also known as "Jacob the Jeweler," with the same intent.
