Demand the Washington Post stop aiding Trumps attack on Social Security

The Washington Post and the Trump administration are running parallel campaigns to divide the American people―pitting retired workers against people with disabilities―in an attempt to achieve their ultimate goal of dismantling Social Security.

In a recent front-page article, the Post attempted to justify Trump’s argument for Social Security cuts by arguing that working-age people in rural America are using Social Security Disability Insurance as a form of unemployment insurance.

The article was based on completely inaccurate data that overcounted the number of Social Security Disability beneficiaries by literally millions.

Write the Washington Post to demand they retract their false numbers and stop their attack on Social Security beneficiaries.

So Called Liberal Welfare Cry Babies! Facts vs. Myth

Once again the topic of so called liberal crybabies is coming up in my conservative circle of friends. They are say that liberals are whining because they will loose their welfare and have to work for a living in Trumps new America. Now these individuals associate Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid with true Welfare which is called AFDC. What they don't realize is people receiving AFDC (which amounts to maybe $200.00/mo for a single person) are people who are waiting for a Disability Determination from Social Security, or are in school. AFDC for a single person who is not applying for Disability or in school is limited to 3 months at a time and they must be actively looking for employment during that time. Also to top that off there is a lifetime cap of 5 years for anybody receiving AFDC. Also with new automated computer matching software and access to state, federal databases the fraud rate by recipients across all entitlement programs from Social Security to SNAP to AFDC is less than 1%. Another prevailing conservative myth is drug use among recipients is higher among recipients then among those who work. This is false. Drug use among recipients is actually less than among the working class. Studies have disproved all these conservative talking points.

Politics Trump Just Flip-Flopped, Admitted He WILL Slash Social Security & Medicare

Source: occupy democrats

Trump administration officials have released an outline of their plan to take an axe to the federal budget, and they’re targeting everything – except military spending. Aiming to reduce spending by $10.5 trillion over ten years, they will accomplish this by gutting Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security, breaking one of Donald Trump’s biggest campaign promises.

“It is my intention to leave Social Security as it is!” announced Trump in a March debate. He told the Heritage Foundation – the neoliberal far-right think tank that drafted the budget outlines used by Republicans in Congress – that “I’m not going to cut Social Security like every other Republican and I’m not going to cut Medicare or Medicaid. Every other Republican is going to cut, and even if they wouldn’t, they don’t know what to do because they don’t know where the money is. I do.”

But it appears Donald Trump, pathological liar and ideological weathervane, is backtracking on his promises yet again. The Hill reports that the budget reductions are based off a Heritage Foundation outline, and a Mother Jones analysis found that this means the Trump Administration will be cutting Medicare by 41%, Medicaid by 41%, and Social Security by 8%
