TexasBushwhacker's JournalHis apology
"I have the utmost respect for women and feel terrible that anything I might have done could have put her in an uncomfortable situation. I am sorry. It is not reflective of who I am."
I'm sick of this "it's not who I am" bullshit. Yes, actually it is who you are. "I might have done"? How about just say "I did".
Houston: We won't check immigration status at shelters
Source: The Hill
The City of Houston said Tuesday that officials won't ask for immigration status or documents at shelters for victims displaced by Tropical Storm Harvey.
"WE WILL NOT ASK FOR IMMIGRATION STATUS OR PAPERS AT ANY SHELTER," the city's official Twitter account tweeted, before repeating the same message in Spanish.
<snip>
Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner (D) promised Monday that he would represent any immigrant that faces deportation after seeking assistance during and after the storm.
"I and others will be the first ones to stand up with you," Turner said at a press conference. "If you need help and someone comes and they require help, and then for some reason, then somebody tries to deport them, I will represent them myself, okay?"

Our mayor is a mensch!
Thanks for the birthday wishes everyone!
No, his dad was Jose Ferrer
Audrey was married to Mel.
He was George Clooney's cousin, in fact he was the one who suggested George give acting a try.
I'm able to watch him
But it often brings a tear to my eye. "Awakenings" was especially poignant.
Companies should be on board w/ Sander's healthcare plan
Any company that currently provides health insurance will probably come out ahead, especially small companies. I work for one. I pay the bills and do the payroll. Our employees are all over forty and some, like me, are pushing 60. We currently pay about $2800 for 5 people for a silver plan with a $6000 deductible. We would pay about $1600 a month with this plan and no deductibles or copays. What's not to love? 6.2% will save most companies money.
I'm sure that companies like Walmart and McDonald's that have huge numbers of employees who are covered by Medicaid or can't afford to pay their half of the company insurance plan premiums won't like it, but tough shit. I'm tired of subsidizing these corporate welfare queens.
Which better describes Bernie's political philosophy
Social Democracy aims to create the conditions for capitalism to lead to greater egalitarian, democratic and solidaristic outcomes.[4] "Social democracy" is often used in this manner to refer to the social policies prominent in Western and Northern Europe - particularly in reference to the Nordic countries - during the latter half of the 20th century.or
Democratic socialism is a political ideology advocating a democratic political system alongside a socialist economic system, involving a combination of political democracy (usually multi-party democracy) with social ownership of the means of production. Although sometimes used synonymously with "socialism", the adjective "democratic" is sometimes added to distinguish itself from non-democratic forms of socialism, such as the MarxistLeninist brand of socialism.
I think Bernie is more of a Social Democrat than a Democratic Socialist. What say you?
Statistics on the cost of gun violence
http://smartgunlaws.org/costs-of-gun-violence-statistics/"Researchers conservatively estimate that gun violence costs the American economy at least $229 billion every year, including $8.6 billion in direct expenses such as for emergency and medical care. Gun violence costs more than $700 per American every year, more than the total economic cost of obesity and almost as much as the annual price tag for the entire Medicaid program."
Steven Tyler Sends Donald Trump Cease and Desist Over Campaign Use of ‘Dream On’
Source: TheWrap
"Tyler is a registered Republican and attended the GOP debate in August.
In a statement to TheWrap, his attorney said the issue is about getting permission, not politics.
This is not a political nor personal issue with Mr. Trump, Steven works tirelessly with both Republicans and Democrats regarding copyright reform and his position has always been consistent regarding copyright and intellectual property, Dina LaPolt said."

I find 3 three things odd about this.
1) Once again the GOP seems to have no understanding or respect for copyright law
2) Dream On seems like an odd choice for a campaign theme.
3) Steven Tyler is a Republican. But then, he did do a LOT of drugs.
