Songs With Epic Sax

That's epic "Sax," not "sex," but not to the exclusion of either.

Let's get it started with the Deacon Blues.

"Learn to work, the saxophone..."

What are your favorites?

Roller Coaster Tycoon 3

Hello fellow tycoons and amusement park lovers,

For more than ten years now I have been playing the RCT series of games, I never get tired of it.

And, for those unfamiliar, it is a game where you design and build your own amusement parks full of thrill rides, food stalls and rollercoasters you design and build piece by piece.

You build and control just about every aspect of it, from setting the price on your new super colossal rollercoaster to the price of extra pickles on a hamburger. (Oh, and you can use the zoom function at the image host for a more immersive experience.)

There are a large number of custom scenery sets available, it's like getting another expansion pack for free!

So, let me show you some of my builds, and if anyone has screens of RCT or other pertinent games, please post them here.

We have themed rollercoasters...

And even skyscrapers, I don't just build an amusement park, I shoot for a whole community, lol

It's been a fun and challenging experience, I still play it almost every day.

Grandpa had his train set in the basement, I've got my RCT-3!

How To Reverse "Desertification" Listen Up California!

Hello everyone,

Have you seen this vid?

"Hope In A Changing Climate" documents how residents of the Loess Plateau in China reversed the "desertification" that had a stranglehold on them for many years.

The "Yellow River" gets it's name from the fine soil that erodes off the plateau each year, clogging the river, causing floods etc.

In the summer the fine sand blows off and carries for many miles.

And in the meantime the land is some of the worst on the planet for agricultural development and sustainability.

Now... California, my old home state has had droughts and floods and fires and mudslides and is going the same way as the Loess Plateau.

What they have done in China, is terrace the hillsides... so water no longer just runs directly off the hill, but seeps into the hill, percolating through and taking weeks or months to appear as a spring at the bottom that is there for irrigation during the dry season...

It's not necessarily the amount of precipitation, it's what is done with it, does the soil have a chance to absorb it before the bulk of it runs off...?

But see what amazing results they have gotten in China and other parts of the world, there IS a solution for California!

So get busy America, there is plenty that needs doing!

Thank you.

Movie Star Name That Face!

Hello fellow movie lovers and amateur film historian types!

Here is a game where we post a pic of a famous or not so famous movie star and associated clues for others to guess.

Now, if they are a big star I try and post a pic that is not so recognizable, if they are a supporting actor etc, then I go ahead and put up something that is more representative of their time on screen.

(I like classic movies, but go ahead and post stars from any era.)

So, let's have our first entry, let me say that this fellow was one of the first "multi-media" stars having been in Vaudeville, on film, radio and television, he was a regular household name for quite awhile there.

He was a child actor who appeared in "The Perils of Pauline" in 1914.

So, who is this fellow, and don't forget to put up your own star pics!

Thx
