anoNY42's JournalMy favorite part of the whole "Trump tax genius" argument
After the NYT released his state tax info, Trump and his surrogates have fallen all over each other claiming that his loss and subsequent (alleged) offset of income was evidence that he is a "genius" at doing his taxes.
However, several seconds of thought on the issue had me realize that Trump obviously did not complete his own, 12,000 page tax returns. Trump has accountants who work for him, so that he does not have to spend his *valuable* time filling in worksheets and categorizing receipts.
Thus, if anyone is a genius, it is the accountant Trump hired to do his taxes.
Debate: The most troubling part of the word salad...
To me, the most troubling thing Donald Trump vomited out last night was that he wants China to invade North Korea. I believe his words were along the lines of "they should go in" to NK.
I tried to see this from the NK perspective. You would have one of the largest nations in the world invading, little chance to stop them...with conventional weapons. However, you just tested some nuclear bombs lately...
Does anyone imagine that the NK regime would hesitate to protest itself if China was really invading in order to topple them?
Donald Trump actually said he wants China to take actions that would almost guarantee a nuclear exchange.
Apropos of nothing
I was reading the interesting story below about a baseball card contest when I noticed this line:
Nineteen fifty-seven was such a pure time compared to what we have now, Mr. Day said.
I had to laugh. This guy sounds like a Trump voter...

Interesting detail on the Tulsa shooting
The below article is from a paper I do not read, but it points out on interest detail: the first cop on the scene did not immediately turn on her car's flashing lights. This is interesting because that would have started her dashcam rolling. She only later turned them on, and the dashcam captured the last part of the incident.
I find it strange that she rolled up on a vehicle in the middle of the road, stopped her car fully in her lane of traffic, and for some reason did not turn on her lights.

Edit: After looking again at the vids and article, perhaps I am wrong and she is claiming she NEVER turned on her lights and dashcam. That would be even stranger, because we can clearly see her flashing lights are on in the dashcam vid from the second police car.
My car broke down last month
An officer pulled up behind me as I waited for the tow truck I had called. I got out and approached him as he was putting on his safety vest and he didn't pull out his gun...didn't even give me any orders. I even went back to my vehicle while he was standing right there and got my cell phone from my front seat. Not a peep about keeping my hands in sight.
Anyway, of course I am a white male (so was the cop). Even so, I was driving a car that is in the middle of a restoration and looks like something a crack addict might own (no paint, mismatched wheels, missing trim). One might have even said I might "be on something" driving a car like that...
On Donald Trump deporting Colin Kaepernick
Donald Trump encourages people to speak their minds and refuse to be politically correct... Except for Colin Kaepernick...
Mylan making new, generic EpiPen for half price
NYT link: http://www.nytimes.com/2016/08/30/business/mylan-to-offer-a-generic-epipen-at-half-the-price.html?_r=0
So Mylan is making a generic epipen that is half the price but still identical to the original. So the extra money for the original must be all profit for Mylan, right? (excepting advertising costs, I suppose)
I noticed something odd about a Trump ad
The ad pitted "Hillary's America" vs. "Trump's America".
The first half was Hillary's America, and one segment was a video of what appeared to be an illegal immigrant being led away in handcuffs by a border patrol agent. The point was that Hillary would allow those illegals to stay (no mention of Trump's latest potential pivot wrt deporting illegals, see latest news for that one).
The second half was Trump's America, where one segment made it clear that Trump would punish illegal immigration. However, the video segment used was also of an illegal immigrant being led away in handcuffs by a border patrol agent.
To me, the videos suggested that Hillary and Trump would do the exact same thing wrt illegal immigration.
If you examine the trend line
of Donald Trump's claims that Obama is soft on terrorism -> Obama "knows exactly what is going on" -> Obama founded ISIS, you can see that the trend is always pointing up.
Thus, it is my conclusion that, sometime in the next month, Trump will claim that Obama assassinated the Archduke Ferdinand and then founded National Socialism.
Trump on Crimea
Trump now: Apparently criticizing the Obama admin for letting Russia take Crimea
"During an extended riff on the crisis in Crimea, Mr. Trump added extra emphasis on the presidents full name, saying that it occurred during the administration of Barack Hussein Obama." (http://www.nytimes.com/2016/08/11/us/politics/trump-rally.html)
Trump a few days ago: Crimeans would rather be part of Russia, I would recognize the annexation as legit
"Im going to take a look at it, Trump said on ABC. But, you know, the people of Crimea, from what Ive heard, would rather be with Russia than where they were. And you have to look at that, also." (http://www.politico.com/story/2016/08/trump-clarifies-crimea-ukraine-226497)
