About Me

Really glad to be in my 70's--the future is going to be rough for the folks who are young now. Just my opinion.

Advice on potential new friend?

I live in Trumpistan. The vast majority of people in this town are GOP trumpers, blaming Biden for everything. I lost several friends back in 2017-2018 because I could not be around people whose values and morals differed so much from mine. I've missed having friends. I have connected with someone local (not a person from here, been here about a year) regarding something I was selling, and via online chat we got along well. We are meeting to browse an antique shop next week. I know she is religious, which I am not, but I have no problem with that as long as it is not pushed on me. I have no idea how to handle it if she spouts some anti-Biden trumper crap. I will not be friends with one of them, period. But what do I do if she does that? Claim to have a headache and leave? Sound like an intolerant human and say "Ok, this will not work out" and leave? Or let it go, leave as soon as possible and what? Ghost her? I have lived for years with no local friends and while I would love to have one again, I will not just overlook a GOP perspective, it's repugnant to me. Any thoughts on what to do if she "comes out" as a MAGAt when we get together for a fun and simple shopping trip?

Music question...

Does anyone here remember an album that was put out by a British group (or possibly single artist, but I think group) some time between about 1968 and 1971 (at the latest) that began with a deep-voiced man asking "Are you sitting comfortably? Then we'll begin"? This memory of mine has been driving me crazy as I listen to all Moody Blues albums in that period, Chad and Jeremy, and similar groups that may have started with that (I was so sure it was going to be Cabbages and Kings, but no), hoping to find the album. IMPORTANTLY: I do not mean the Moody Blues *song* called "Are you sitting comfortably." I do not mean an old British radio program that started with that phrase. And it is that exact phrase, not one paraphrasing it, which can be found on a Humble Pie album (or was it the Faces?). If anyone knows what album it was, let me know!

CKD

This seems to be a pretty inactive group, but I have to ask if anyone else has CKD? I was recently diagnosed, have found a renal/diabetic dietitian to help me with what I can eat (after a week, i am REALLY hungry since I'm afraid to eat anything), our first telehealth session is tomorrow afternoon. I am gobsmacked by how much conflicting and contradictory dietary information is on the web. Eat ABC, avoid ABC. DEF is beneficiary to kidneys, DEF further damages kidneys. It's incredible and useless. Anyway, wondering if anyone here has coped with this.

Oh, hi

Air plant blooming - Part 2

Last month I posted a picture of one of my air plants in bloom. Another one, different variety, is at it now, so I thought I would share this one as well. This plant is about 6" tall by about 7" wide.

Mockingbird vs. Mirror

Or perhaps he is just admiring himself...

(Actually, he continued to attack the mirror for about 10 minutes.)

Bluebirds are nesting!

We get 3 families per summer in this nest box. They are starting to build the nest now.

Prothonotary Warbler

These cute little birds really catch your eye!
