Am I the only one happy about self-isolating?

It's always been my tendency anyway! Plus I'm saving money on gas, and able to work a little extra time each day, with no commute.

On The Beach

One of the best movies I've ever seen. Particularly apt at this moment. Best performances I've ever seen, from every one of the all-star cast.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/On_the_Beach_(1959_film)

On the Beach is a 1959 American post-apocalyptic science fiction drama film from United Artists, produced and directed by Stanley Kramer, that stars Gregory Peck, Ava Gardner, Fred Astaire, and Anthony Perkins. This black-and-white film is based on Nevil Shute's 1957 novel of the same name depicting the aftermath of a nuclear war. Unlike in the novel, no one is assigned blame for starting the war; the film hints that global annihilation may have arisen from an accident or misjudgment.

US lawmakers advised to use Vulcan greeting to avoid coronavirus exposure

While hand washing and limiting exposure remain ideal ways to protect yourself and others from spreading illnesses like the flu or COVID-19, lawmakers and "Star Trek" fans alike have suggested that, instead of shaking hands, using the Vulcan greeting that Leonard Nimoy, who played Spock on the original series of the beloved franchise, famously devised.

At a closed-door meeting of the House Democratic caucus this morning (March 10), the coronavirus was a major topic of discussion, according to CNN. The meeting included discussion of how members could best prevent the spread of the virus.

How TrumPutin's Falsebook bots are screwing with Democrats. (a personal story)

A friend of my wife (a real anti-Trump person I've met, so not a bot) posted something to the effect that if Sanders wins the nomination, she'll vote for a third party. Her post indicates that she thinks Sanders is the reason Trump "won" in 2016. She apparently missed the part where votes for third-parties such as Putin plant Jill Stein actually put Trump within cheating distance. So she plans to help install Trump as King if she doesn't get her favorite nominee.

People, if you are on Falsebook, don't let your "friends" get suckered into this bot-powered trap. Snap them out of it!

Trump's properties (e.g. Dooshbegg and Dingleberry) must be pretty crappy.

The only way he can book rooms is to force people to stay there.

Why are shadowy RW orgs running ads on M$NBC?

Seems like worse than a waste of money; it just riles us up even more!

I'm shopping in the Putin-Free section.

It's important to check the ingredients for anything with an "R" (Russiapublican) in it.

USA Today caught cheating on poll

USA Today breathlessly claims "Poll: Half of Americans say Trump is victim of a 'witch hunt' as trust in Mueller erodes!!!"

https://www.vox.com/2019/3/18/18271441/trump-tweet-usa-today-suffolk-poll-mueller-witch-hunt

...But the poll question on which that headline rests is seriously flawed. The question reads as follows: “President Trump has called the Special Counsel’s investigation a ‘witch hunt’ and said he’s been subjected to more investigations than previous presidents because of politics. Do you agree?”

It’s true that 50.3 percent of the poll’s 1,000 respondents said “yes” to that question. But that doesn’t necessarily mean they believe the Mueller investigation is a “witch hunt.” The prompt packs two different questions into one — a poor strategy for a poll question. Respondents simply may have meant to agree that Trump has been “subjected to more investigations than previous presidents because of politics” — a controversial but defensible position — without intending to go further and indicate they think Trump is the victim of a “witch hunt.”

Big Dipper Toilet Guy gets caught lying to Congress

Looks like Wiseacre Whitaker is going to have to wipe that snarky smirk off of his face.

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/03/13/us/politics/whitaker-michael-cohen-trump.html

WASHINGTON — The former acting attorney general Matthew G. Whitaker “did not deny” in a private meeting with House lawmakers on Wednesday that he had spoken to President Trump about an investigation in New York that had ensnared the president and his business, the Democratic chairman of the House Judiciary Committee said.

Speaking after the meeting, the chairman, Representative Jerrold Nadler of New York, presented Mr. Whitaker’s comments as being at odds with his public testimony last month before the Judiciary Committee. In that hearing, Mr. Whitaker generally would not say if he had communicated with the president about the case, which led to charges against Michael D. Cohen, Mr. Trump’s former personal lawyer and fixer.
