Cannot Watch Videos

Would you have any idea why I haven't been able to view videos lately? I have not done anything to my laptop (HP WIN7); using IE8.

The videos are appearing with a black backround, the red square with the white arrow that you usually click to play the video. This is as opposed to other playable videos that usually depict a screen shot of the video to be played.

Any ideas????
