My son has two 18 year old friends who have MM cards. There is nothing wrong mentally or physically with them. They just like bud. And this fact, along with other abuses gives the Feds cover for harrassing and intimidating the MM community
That is why the MM community nationwide needs to strongly come out in favor of the COL, WA, and OR legalization measures up to bat this Nov. If legal these 18 year olds will have to wait, or if they cheat, maybe we identify them as kids who need help. And the MM community gets left alone or forces a confrontation that thè Feds cannot win in court ...... This is besides all the other benefits such as revenue, justice, wiser use of police resources, hemp, and keeping the drug cartels in relative check Anyone in the MM community or growing for the MM community that opposes legalization is not thinking this through. Do you not want the end of the drug war? The good people of OR COL and/or WA state will do it. Please help them . The politicians sure won't.

(15,189 posts)Medical Marijuana shops make a lot more money that pot is still illegal. Do you know for a fact these kids don't need the MJ? They could have learning disabilities that MJ helps them. It's better for the kids to use MJ than drink alcohol. If smoking weed helps them from drinking, I consider that a healthy choice, and they should be able to get a prescription for that reason. Even if they are 18 years old.

(2,335 posts)There is nothing wrong with these kids. My kid could prove it based on their on admissions against interest. But that's not the point. My point is that legal ultimately benefits MM even though many in thè MM crowd have convinced themselves otherwise Is 18 old enough for legal ? Depends on whether their brains have developed already. The data suggests Cannabis is bad for a brain not finished developing I'm not a scientist so we need someone trained on this subject to chime in

(9,154 posts)Are you sure about this: "There is nothing wrong mentally or physically with them."
Prior to the industrial era, I've been unable to find historical information about "rebellious teens". Whether they existed or not is not the main point. The modern teenage years are times of gargantuan stress. Not only puberty, dating, and those kinds of physical things, but all the work (labor) required without monetary payment, the 'high stakes' testing, yada yada, the pressure to get college degree so they can qualify to work as a burger flipper (in this job market). My point is it's possible that the MM your 18 year old kids' friends are using is a "self medication" to help them cope with the extreme mental stress our civilization forces upon them today.
Additionally, you do not know that there is nothing physically wrong with them. It merely "seems" that way to you, based upon appearances. Remember, medical records are supposed to be private. When folks reveal they have an illness, predators come out of nowhere to take advantage. Putting on the appearance of health, when the opposite is the actual case, seems to be quite normal and natural.

(2,335 posts)It was not the best drafted measure but it was a start. No measure will please everyone but someone needs to swing the first sledgehammer at the WOD
Once we legalize you can tinker. But the status quo is not sustainable. You need MM patients and providers to be free of harassment and the only way that will happen is full on legalization , not decriminalization and other half measures.
