It recently came out that Counterpunch and various other far left and other kooky sites published several articles from what it turns out is a Russian intelligence troll. See this previous OP https://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1002&pid=10025316 and this WAPO article: https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/kremlin-trolls-burned-across-the-internet-as-washington-debated-options/2017/12/23/e7b9dc92-e403-11e7-ab50-621fe0588340_story.html?utm_term=.f0c619be8f8b
Counterpunch's article discussing this is a hilarious example of why it should never be read as legitimate journalism:

(27,806 posts)I used to like Common Dreams, but the stuff they were posting last year all seemed completely whacky. I have a small group of left-wing Facebook friends who were constantly pushing articles from that site, and though they were formerly politically reasonable, they all seemed nuts last year. I had to hide a ton of posts.
Bernie Sanders' being in the race was extremely helpful to this agenda - I am in no way suggesting that he was a participant in this activity or aware that there were trolls contributing to these sites and actively undermining Hillary during the campaign. It was very conveniently useful that he gave the people who were pushing some of these sites an alternative to Hillary, who was suddenly portrayed as a rightwing militarist whose sole agenda was to be a war hawk, rather than the progressive she really is.
Strange times.
